Linking to Sourceforge

Postby :) » Sun Jan 28, 2007 6:47 pm

What is the proper way to link to a Sourceforge download?

This method:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/nexuiz ... uperb-west
forces the use of a single mirror, when there are many.

This method:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/nexuiz ... g_mirror=0
does not force a mirror I think, but I'm not sure what it does really.

Which of the two methods is better? Is there another way to do it?

Why not just use http://downloads.sourceforge.net/nexuiz/nexuiz-223.zip or http://downloads.sourceforge.net/nexuiz ... 1169557912 ? (the second link would be better, since it looks like that'll ensure everyone get the same file, even if mirrors are not in sync)

Haha i had the same problem! :P

I searched SF but couldnt find anything. Here is the old way i used on my site which still seems to work:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/nexu ... p?download

I have no idea how i found this. Maybe it was documented on SF before but if so then its gone now. (or im too stupid to find it)

The primary reason is only some mirrors have the files right away, so they link to one that does.

At this point it is certainly safe to just let it go auto, so I have changed it.

I personally prefer Easynews when it comes to US SF mirrors
