Vista isn't even that great. They delay it forever then they still receive tons of problems. Take this for example. I was expecting Vista to pretty much "modernize" if you may, 64 bit. But I mean I don't see much commotion going on with Vista.

I watch the news all the time and there wasn't much of a comment at all about Vista. Many people I encounter had no idea Vista was out until a week later or so. Microsoft really messed up big time.

I was thinking that the downfall of Microsoft would occur when they start charging monthly fees for their operating system. (Judging where they were going it wouldn't be a surprise if they did.)

Now many months ago I tried Linux, and I say it was a good experience indeed. Alas I switched back to Windows because there were tons of games that weren't Linux compatible, even wine-wise. Now these days there are only three games I really play, Nexuiz, Lineage II, and Starcraft. Nexuiz, being Linux compatible. While Starcraft and Lineage II (c4) work well with wine.

For xfire chatting, use gfire - http://www.fryx.ch/xfire/ - a gaim plugin, which also ties into XQF for game tracking.
For microphone communication, teamspeak is available for linux.
