Announce the availability of a beta of Safari for Windows.

Forget to include the resource files for non-English languages.

Wonder why it looks like the following on non-English Windows versions as well as English versions with different local settings:

Note the missing article headers and the empty bookmarks bar. Oh, and any bookmark related operation results in an instant crash.

An easy workaround exists (make a copy of the en.lproj resources folder under C:\Program Files\Safari and name it with your locale, i.e. de.lproj for Germany); it's still highly embarrassing. Don't they test this stuff?[/list]

you forgot to mention that safaris is the worst implementation of ktml ever, and it thoughly sucks in any way.. its alsmost as bad as IE, and i'm not kidding.

Apple's WebKit is based on KDE's KHTML (which is used in Konqueror). It's not perfect but it works. Mozilla's Gecko engine usually is more accurate, but as long as the sites remain accessible... who cares.

(I'm using Firefox 2, by the way)

Anyway, this way or another: Safari was a major step forward from IE 5 for Mac (which wasn't maintained anymore for like years when Apple finally filled the gap with Safari).

You of course understood that ktml was a typo, i Ment khtml, however there still are lots of issues with safari. When I implementet the special functionality at www.stv.no (try resizing your browser) safari caused me about as much headache as IE did. Particulary that the objects report their size to the JS engine before the CSS is rendered and stuff like that made things funky. Also Safari has issues with floating elements and clear:-statements that konqueror dont have. thats the weird part.

The funniest part is that like anything else from apple, you cant discuss this with an apple whore (not counting you there ) withiout them gettin all fired up.. its funny.

Im surfing with Safari on XP right now. And I have noticed lots of missing header text. It seems all bold text gets removed

I'll give you that JavaScript in Konqueror/Safari is a bitch at times. And an ugly one, too. Usually it's no violating the spec, though - it just behaves "different" at times. That together with e.g. Konqueror (no idea about Safari) having no proper error console can be *really* frustrating.

Took me some time to get the JavaScript behind http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jor ... launch.ogg working in Konqueror.
