Height and weight.

Postby ai » Mon Jun 18, 2007 7:35 am

Hey, I have a question. For all of you who want to share your height and weight go ahead. My question is this: I saw this girl who said her height was 155 cm (5'1") and weight 85 kg (187 lbs), and her body type is petite (slim/average, kinda, for you who don't know what that means), and when I heard this I was very "what the hell?!! You gotta be kidding me!".
I am 187 cm (6'1") and weight 75 kg (165 lbs) that's why I was very confused, astonished and felt like I was a total failure.

Asked my friend about it and he redirected me to this site which eased my earnest to kill myself (My BMI is 21.4, healthy): http://www.weightlossresource.com/tools ... tor2_2.cfm

So she's either lying or totally ignores the laws of nature, physics and human anatomy.. which would be pretty cool though :)

Either that or her opinions on what constitutes as being 'petite' differ slightly from yours... after all 'petite' is just french for small. And that she is at 1m55.

1.55m x slim != 85kg
1.55m x wide = 85kg

I'm rather short at 1.65m and weigh only 55kg.

Same- In the long run though, I think it's a blessing. In the US, the second greatest cause of mortality is obesity.

i weigh ~ 200 lbs @ '5''9 (90kg / 1,75m) converter: http://www.albireo.ch/bodyconverter
i've always been a toothpick but i got some mass in my late teen years.... broad shoulders and a fat ass. :P

... One problem with using BMI as a measurement tool is that very muscular people may fall into the "overweight" category when they are actually healthy and fit. Another problem with using BMI is that people who have lost muscle mass, such as the elderly, may be in the "healthy weight" category--according to their BMI--when they actually may have reduced nutritional reserves. BMI, therefore, is useful as a general guideline to monitor trends in the population, but by itself is not diagnostic of an individual patient's health status. Further evaluation of a person should be performed by a health professional to determine his or her weight status and associated health risks.

let me translate that for you:
"BMI is like a rubber chicken. it's fun to play with and wear it as a hat, but in the end, neither will improve your health and people will never treat you the same."

6'2 200 pounds. 26 years old

From my teens to early twenties I was a steady 170. In the past few years I have been creeping up to 200. I'm starting to exercise again, so it will probably drop a bit. I wouldn't mind building up my chest and back instead of the flab in my gut. :p
