yes, it may look bad, but if you checkout the SVN version, we're really doing well... The apps though are outdated, so most of them don't work in the SVN version. We decided to put this off until the actual desktop development is finished.
now... about this...
I think the menu is terribly sorted, I can't seem to find out how to launch apps. I find the UI a tad sluggish, but then again, I'm on my crappy laptop right now. I saw something about them opening up their apis, that may end up not being so popular since not to many people I know are hardcore actionscript developers. Me and another guy have been working on psych desktop since september 06 I believe. I'm not sure when they started, or how many people are working on it, but archive.org has a cache in january of 07, which means they had some time before hand to work on it, so I suppose they started around the same time we did.
this doesn't involve the site at all but the testimonials at the bottom of this page are extremely irritating and you can tell they were made up:

I think that web desktops in general could be so much more then what stuff like this is, and that's one of the reasons why I started the Psych Desktop project. We will be looking to actually make a set of server administrative apps for it after the release, including a nexuiz server manager
