An unecessary basic question

How do you run Nexuiz?

Ok, here I am new to Linux. So when I wish to install and run something surely the documentation would give me a very simple steps 1,2,3.... that would take me from a zip file to a running game. Unfortunately not, I did manage to "install" but only after referencing an FAQ (basics should not be in here !). Or am I expected to be Linux savvy? Surely not these days with Linux attempting to go mainstream?

So is there a 1,2,3... from install to run? If not how do I do it? Please note no command line instructions.

I could spend the evening doing this for myself but I should not have to, should I? I should not need to resort to command lines for anything to be taken seriously (i.e. anti windows) should I?

There is no installation necessary. Just put the downloaded dir wherever you want, and run the app.

The files you want to run are the .sh files. There are two, an SDL one and a GLX one. On some systems one runs better than the other and generally the SDL version is quicker so try running this one. This is exactly the same as the choice between two .exe files to run under Windows.

Well, and if you INSIST to install it from the command line... use this command:

$ unzip nexuiz-23.zip

That's all. Of course, you can use any other archiving tool that supports zip files (arK, file-roller, doesn't matter, about every one will work, just double click the zip file and drag the Nexuiz folder out of it, this will do the right thing no matter which archive program your distro set up for you).

well if you're using a modern distribution of linux it should be in the software repositories, you should be able to find an 'add/remove software' program somewhere.

can someone please explain to me a little more the difference with the SDL version?

Nobody can, they just use a different method to access graphics and sound. Try both, and tell us which worked better.
