creative commons music in nexuiz

Hello to all,
Is is possible to include music under creative commons license in Nexuiz? I am thinking of tunes which have commercial use, remixing, distribution and sharing allowed as long as you credit the artist. In my opinion this could fit to nex perfectly and would not have to be distributed separately from Nexuiz. We could get more music for the maps to Nexuiz this way. What are your thoughts on this?

The attribution is not required with the General Public License Version 2 used by Nexuiz, therefore an attribution clause would be incompatible, or not fully compatible.

So there are practically two possibilities left.
First is to contact author of such work and kindly ask him/her for permission to use his/her work in the game without attribution or if he/she could relicense the work under GPL2. With such permission or relicensing we should be able to include it.
Second option is to offer music packs which would have a file where we would thank all the authors for their music. Of course this would have to be distributed separately and would be optional for download just like the map pack is.

Actually, the attribution IS required by the GPL. Although CC-BY contains terms that are not GPL compatible, an artist who released a work under CC-BY is likely to agree with GPL distribution too. CC-BY-SA however already makes that unlikely, and if an artist licenses his works under one of the the NC ones, he clearly wants no GPL distribution.

Hello again,
I did some research on this and I have found out that creative commons licenses are not very good for software and it is not advised to combine software under GPL with creative commons media and than release it together under GPL. But that should not stop people. Simply if you want any kind of music in Nexuiz copyrighted or not, you can simply make a play list in your favorite music player and turn on Nexuiz without music. You will get the same effect and this can be applied for every kind of music and the tunes wil play even during loading.
