Puzzle Quest

Postby HarryButt » Fri Jul 04, 2008 10:18 pm

I thought that this one is not well known, so I have to spread the word on this game.
Puzzle Quest (yeah, stupid title...) is a version of Bejeweled with some nice modifications. Actually it's no real puzzle game, but an RPG with a "Bejeweled" fighting system. The cleared rows of colored spheres are the attacks and you win the battle by deplenishing your enemies' HP. This might remind some of Super Puzzle Fighter 2 by Capcom. But you have to know, that this game here actually has a story.
A story in a puzzle game!
Puzzle Quest was made by the designer of WarlordsBattlecry and despite the anime-look, the story takes places in the same universe. So you follow the story by doing quests, skill up your character as in every RPG and teach him some special attacks, that you use in puzzle combat mode.
This game is way underrated imho, cause it's so much fun, but nobody knows about it :(
For the PC there is a demo version available. I had to get my Mac version some... other way... :P It's also possible to get PuzzleQuest on the DS, PSP, PS2+PS3, X-Box, Wii and some mobile phones.

Some screenies from my Macintosh:

Inane puzzle games are boring. Tacking on a somewhat cliche fantasy plot doesn't change that.

 It's not just a puzzle game with a fantasy plot
I enjoy the RPG element of it

If you like puzzle games amd/or RPG games you will probably appreciate this game.

I get bored with puzzle games after a while. The RPG aspect of puzzle quest keeps it fun.
The RPG and puzzle elements seem to go well together like peanut butter and jelly.
