Xfire support for Nexuiz

Postby The Crippler » Mon May 08, 2006 4:44 pm

Nexiuz should think about getting Xfire to support this great game.

Are the companies compatable?

And does anyone agree?

Peace'

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do to add official Nexuiz support to Xfire, since it's closed source...
There are already quite a few requests to add Nexuiz support in the Xfire forums, but I haven't seen any official response to those requests.

I'll just copy/paste a email response from Richard Stallman after reporting a bug in the windows version of emacs:

If you replace Windows with GNU/Linux, things like this probably won't
happen. In addition, your software will respect your freedom (Windows
does not).

And to add: With GNU/Linux you can use XQF, a very good server browser with support of nexuiz :)

I'm not really familiar with Xfire, but iirc it's not a server browser, it's something like an instant messenger where you can see if/what your friends are currently playing.
Unfortunately i don't know any open source app that can do that... Perhaps we should make an alternative ontop the jabber protocoll :P

I'm not too familiar either with XFire but it seems to me that its a server browser with some buildin chat features. You can use XQF to search for players (buddies *ARGH* :)) too so the only missing thing is the chat feature and being closed source ;)
