We'll find out.
If things work out correctly I'm gonna go on a minimal supply camping trip on the coast of lake michigan.
If I live I'll let you know.
If I dont I probably wont.

When I say miniml I mean a magnifying class some clothes a knife on 2 meals worth of emergency rations, a disinfectant and a peice of charcoal.

and MAYBE a tent.

This is if things work out correctly.

You forgot to mention how long you would be camping.

However.

You should start out with nothing to be fair. And especially NOT have a magnifying glas and NOT have any disinfectant, that's just ridiculous. I'm not talking scout equipment and survival. I'm talking nothing more than just clothes. As clothes is our 'fur', to put it bluntly. We once had fur, but with time it disappeared as we started to wear clothes and whatnot.
Throw a city person in the wild without anything but the clothes. I can also give whatever equipment they are wearing. I doubt though they will have a magnifying glas or disinfectant in their pockets, knife possibly.

Make your own weapons if you need any, find a way to make up a fire. Anyone can survive with the stuff you mentioned. It gets cold at nights, especially at the end of the summer so you have to prepare for the night, gather up some stuff to keep you warm and find a safe place to sleep. Wind proof, ideally rain proof, but most importantly predator proof. Build a quick place for the night if it looks like it could rain or get windy.

Many humans don't even know how to make a fire cause they're used to their matches and lighters. They don't know that a simple wound could lead to critical conditions as they take that for granted. I bet they don't even know that licking the wound does help a little against infection, as your saliva not only cleans but protects the wound a little.

A magnifying glass is a bit much I suppose.
Disinfectant is really only if I majorly fuck myself up. (majorly fuck up meaning I stab myself in the leg with a big rusty metal thing. i've done it before.)
Minor disinfectants can be harvested from certain bushes.
I have a knife on me for a good portion of the time. If I were to be launched out into the wilderness I would probably have a knife on me.

People instinctivley know how to survive in the wild but our stupid society has convinced them that they dont. When your a child and your instincts havn't evaporated you find the strange urge to lick a cut, like you said, this can deter infection and even lessen pain.

Also, I agree that a person from the city would not survive but I am not from the city.
Its a quarter mile to my next door neighbor.

My abundant food sources are leaks, unfortunate tourists (jking), fish, walnunts, general foliage, and whatever else I can find. I would eat turkeys but I dont like to eat things beyond a certain intelligence.

Lol, talking about this is reminding me of my test trip.
Just to see what it would be like I went ahead and slept out in my forest. It wasn't to bad. I pretty much ate some rather tasty weeds, walnuts, and soomak. (I have no idea how to spell it so I just took a guess as to how it would sound if our language didnt suck.)

I wish there was a way to inform them of the suckage of society without sucking them into it.

After this topic is dead I'm going ot make an equally contrversial one about americans and europeans. It will be crazy.

Its good to have these things somtimes, just to get people thinking stuff.

Predator proof isnt really a problem, most things around here would be food if they attacked me. A bear is really the only thing I have to worry about but those are extremely rare around here, although I hear they are becoming more prevelant.

Sorry for bumping this old (humans vs other animals) thread :D But I want to quote Richard Dawkins from his "A Devil's Chaplain" book here.

Richard Dawkins wrote:Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence; the gift of revulsion against its implications; the gift of foresight - something utterly foreign to the blundering short-term ways of natural selection - and the gift of internalizing the very cosmos.
