Why do you try to avoid death, anyway? What makes you think it's bad?

I personally am not afraid to die and I don't actually see it as a bad thing. I can't wait to die and see what happens (although I have a pretty good and accurate idea) -_^, just that I will not go down without a fight.
But the concept 'fear of death' is more along the lines 'preserving the species'. Oh and also, fear of pain, not the actual death part. Death is nice compared to the pain before it, unless you're lucky and go down really fast.

Damn I wish we had a tail, and fur. I love tails! Actually a tail would be perfect for us as we walk on two legs. We have bad balance in the first place, why not add a tail to get perfect balance? Yes, the big toe is a major part of our balance, but I want more.

No no no what we need is a tail that you could communicate emotions with. For example you can easily tell when a dog is happy - because of the tail.

Well, I could wag my tail to communicate my happiness to everyone around me, but that usually results in being arrested. I am now communicating my emotions in the way that bonobos do as a more socially acceptable alternative.
