Basic idea: Self-parodying, multiplayer-only game about a dystopian future where rebels fight for the freedom of their home planet... with Nerf-guns.
I'm doing the art, my friend is scripting and doing whatever light coding he can, and I just wanted to ask the Nexuiz devs for some critique on my first weapon model.

This is actually the most complex model. It's going to be a super-weapon comparable to the Railgun or the Nex, just with very limited ammo and much more power. I designed this one myself rather than tracing a real gun because I wanted to give it a homemade, hodgepodge feel. It's not completely finished, and it won't be until I can run it through XSI for some things with curves (and textures) but I'm just looking for some suggestions on the overall design.
EDIT:

The melee weapon, no softshading, default Blender lighting. This should look a lot better in game with normal mapping and reasonable lighting.
