Warsow 0.12 released

Postby esteel » Thu Jun 15, 2006 1:20 pm

Warsow is a standalone eSport oriented first person shooter available for windows and linux.
It offers cool cartoonish, celshading graphics and is very unique due to its power-up system that does include weak and strong fire modes (ammo) for each weapon and the fast-paced gameplay focused on trick jumps and art of move. Tricks include classical things coming from the quake scene, like circlejumps, strafejumps, doublejumps and bunny hopping and add things like walljumps, dodges and dashes.
While It runs on top of Qfusion, a modification of quake 2 GPL engine the rest of the game uses an more closed license. The whole game is available for free.
Today version 0.12 was released. You can get it over at http://warsow.net.

I know some people like to protect the game they like and love to play so i ask you to be as kind as in this forum and make some new friends :)

I meant to give it a shot.
One shall not have to pick only one open game to play and rebel against the others.
We are all on the same team, as far as I'm concerned.

although i prefer nexuiz, i have to agree that warsow is a *very* cool game and should be tested by everyone who likes first person shooters.
that means everyone in this forum

The funny thing about their irc channel is that there are a lot more people on it then on the nexuiz channels but the nexuiz ones seem more active to me.
I set my irc client to only highlight a channel when someone wrote something, got kicked or a mode was changed. So join/part/quit/nick-change are ignored.

the problem is that there is no official nexuiz irc channel other than #alientrap that people actually talk in. And i'd rather #alientrap have mostly developers

There is starting to be a lil more activity on #nexuiz @ qnet now.. if enough people that can answer questions hang there, the channel becomes more useful. I try and hang there when I can.

Its off topic but yeah i also consider #nexuiz @ quakenet.org as good as an official channel. #nexuiz @ gamesurge.net has less people and is less active/known. While the channels on anynet.org really seem to be developer channels. Oh and on that network there is also an #nexuiz with 3-4 people.
So i think the one on quakenet win hands down :)
Maybe it should be just mentiond as official! Think its even mentioned in the little irc guide from yesterday..
