I really hope this isn't the end of ID's policy of releasing its older engines as FOSS.

Morrowind and Oblivion are my favorite offline RPGs.
Bethesda Softworks shouldn't be too bad for the Quake series, I think.

The acquisition by ZeniMax Media joins together two of the finest, most respected video-game developers in the world
I wouldn't honestly put Zenimax in the same league as id. Think they're being a little overoptimistic here.
