Now this is BULLSHIT!

I'd like to take a moment to remind everybody just how dangerous the internet can be. Make sure you antivirus programs stay updated. Try to practice better security by doing things like disabling password remembering features, having your cookies delete everytime your browser closes, using different passwords for different logins, keeping your history wiped, etc. With all that I present to you a screenshot of a a failed attack on my system. As you can see a wrong link on google can get you killed (well maybe not killed but you get my point). I was searching for specs on a new mouse when I was directed to a site hosting rogues. Rogues aka ransomware are these bad mutha fuckas that try to pass themselves off as antiviruses for the purpose of tricking you into buying a "licensed" version. They typically pop up and annoy (often times hijacking your browser as seen here) the hell out of you as well as drastically slow your rig down and giving you exaggerated scans. If you ever get hijacked by rogue site I highly recommend you do an xkill command on your browser if your running Linux or doing a hard shutdown (hold power button until system turns off) if your running Windows. DO NOT click on any pop up boxes.

Shouldn't be something like "use NoScript!" in the list?

Also, instead of doing a hard switch-off, which could lead to data loss, better kill your X-server by pressing ctrl-alt-backspace.
On some distros it must be enabled manually, see also https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/DontZap.

(Killing the X-server still could cause data loss, but definitely less, especially when using autosave-capable apps.)

That was my advice for Windows users. In Linux you can simply do an xkill or hell download the rogue since it's most likely written for Windows and has no way to execute or hide from you.

@ C Brutail: LMAO same rogue. It's a shame that the internet is being taken over by bullshit such as this.
