Spoiler:
I found out, today, that apparently div0 dislikes me (dislike might be too lofty of a word: one can only dislike things that actually matter... probably more of an annoyance or ambivilance). But try as I might, I could not extract the reason why.
Now, ofcourse, I'm banned from all the irc channels (and have been for awhile) ... and ignored.. so I can't ask directly (I was wondering why reams and reams of free flowing text were ... uninterrupted by replies. Sure it makes the prose flow very well, but replies are nice too.) But when I began to suspect.. I did the next best thing... I asked indirectly... I asked MrBougo.
I asked MrBougo to why, but he wouldn't tell. He said that a good friend (such as himself) would not. I asked for him, using his knowlege, to speculate so that I would not make whatever mistake I made again.
MrBougo would not tell nor speculate, I tried to convince him by explaining some things:
Alas, he just said he wasn't going to read my noise, can't be assed.
So I come to you. Apparently div0 dislikes me, or well... maybe it's more of a situation a nail, or a pin, or a snake finds it'self in ... ambivilance, unhappiness if one encounters such a thing ... but... well how can you truely dislike such an inconsequential item such as a nail or a pin or a snake: they are what they are. Sometimes they're useful, like when ... no just use a screw instead.
Can you tell me why?
So I don't screw things up a third time if I ever find myself in a working relationship with another wizard/god programmer.
I promise, and I've never promised you all anything, that once some truthful answers are discovered, once the source of the dislike is uncovered, I'll get the fuck out of all of your hair. Apparently now the dislike is universal so... I shouldn't be here... but I need to know why.
(Note: "Ask yourself why" isn't a good response: I would have been disliked the whole time if it was a valid response, from my perspective that hasn't been the case (though my perspective may be flawed).
I figured this day would come, dreaded it really. I remebered how good it was working with cavehippo and how quickly we were making progress towards a massive game world where one could buy and sell land. And Then That All Ended Suddenly.
(Much later his aprentice in code, Rednaxela, taught me Python and I was able to cobble together a land purchasing and house/etc building system... but that was the end... and it never went into main-line crossfire. It still exists, ofcourse, in my fork that no one plays. But ... what could have been...)

<ii> could you ask div0 if I'm on ignore please
<MrBougo> you are
<ii> and if so, inform me thusly so I know not to attempt to bother him with /msgs
<ii> I am? why? ask why
<MrBougo> you are
<ii> from div0?
<MrBougo> are you kidding me
<ii> no?
<MrBougo> ask yourself why
<ii> I dunno why, tell me
<MrBougo> you give up easily, don't you
<ii> a quote would be nice, an explaination, but a quote would do
<MrBougo> <div0> don't care
<MrBougo> <div0> ignoring his 42 nicknames for a while now
...
<MrBougo> the line before was me telling him that you wanted to talk to him
I asked MrBougo to why, but he wouldn't tell. He said that a good friend (such as himself) would not. I asked for him, using his knowlege, to speculate so that I would not make whatever mistake I made again.
<ii> Surely you would want to know at what point you had become disliked, if such happened, wouldn't you
<ii> at what point it started, at what point the dislike crystalised, and when the decision that the dislike was true and real came
<MrBougo> as somebody considered as a nice, open-minded guy, yes I would
<ii> you know, for science, and to make sure that next time that you merely /approach/ those areas and do not ///quite/// cross them.
MrBougo would not tell nor speculate, I tried to convince him by explaining some things:
See last time I worked with a genius code wizard, and formed a kind of an internet friendship... once he switched away from the project (it was the crossfire RPG, I was making tons of maps for it, and archtypes (and GFX) and we would work together: I'd do the media stuff, he'd do the code)
well once he did other stuff I called him a traitor and fucked everything up.
Now with nexuiz, and div0, I found myself in a similar position, but with ... like a god of programming, rather than just a wizard.
This time I made sure to be nice and respectful always, because I didn't want it to end like last time with cavehippo (he never refound time to work on the game again, and didn't want to work with me anyway) and this lasted for along time.
I made content, though I never was able to get as good at the 3d stuff as I got at the pixel graphix in crossfire, and div0... well anything asked, even if it was a long shot or a joke, he made: he was able to do it.
I made sure always to be respectful.
so I don't know where I went wrong
I need this information so this doesn't happen a THIRD time
I've struck out twice obviously now
cavehippo doesn't like me
div0 doesn't like me
I know why cavehippo doesn't like me
I don't know quite what made div0 dislike me.
please help me aquire some idea?
or atlease speculate
Otherwise this sort of thing will happen forever
You know there... are even more parelles: in crossfire I did do some small amounts of coding (python scripts for things) in nexuiz I did some small amounts of coding (quake c things for a func I needed, and some bits of a weapon).
In crossfire when I was requested by cavehippo to make something, I did it (a few archtypes/gfx he needed) in nexuiz, the few times I was requested to make something I did it (tuba, ludo inspired map)... though I never made the guitar... maybe I should have... but I couldn't think of how to make it look good (usually when I see a 3d guitar... it's just like... a flat cutout thing... that's what the electric guitars are in real life even... doesn't look good in a game.)
None of the stuff I've done has great value ofcourse (anyone can extrude a tuba into existance by following the picture) and the stuff that the programmers have done have been amazing and.. well what more can be said.
Alas, he just said he wasn't going to read my noise, can't be assed.
