What is the current status, Jim?

Postby Tei » Wed Apr 07, 2010 3:11 pm

I need some clarification about the current state of Nexuiz / Xonotic.

The new Nexuiz game, Xonotic, seems moving forward to a release, with some improved graphics and ideas, and future plans.
Old Nexuiz, probably is played normally on the servers ( only a minitority of people read forms, most people don't care about forum drama).
New Nexuiz ( aka Xonotic ) is stil under development.
Old Nexuiz may have still some development...? so here is my first question, is Nexuiz, as a separate thing to Xonotic, still moving forward? there are people still working on the gamecode for Nexuiz, with not plans to move to Xonotic?.

Reading the Xonotic forums, I get some idea the evolution that project, but since theres some almost minimal movement on this forum, I have no idea the current state of Nexuiz. OpenTTD (after 6+years) just released his 1.0 version. Things in opensource game develpment often are a bit too slow.

It will probably be a good idea to a) have a real idea what is the status of things. b) inform others about that status, so people know what to expect.

Video not-related.

I would suggest that you read the xonotic forums for informations about xonotic :) The nexuiz forums are not a really good platform for information from other projects... As for the development of Nexuiz, that shuold be answered here, yes.

and as for ottd, the politic in question there was that they didnt wan tto realeas the 1.0 until all the old game code was replaced, and it was fully self contained.. it has been feature complete for ages.

You will have to ask the current Nexuiz developers. If that fails due to the lack of developers, then ask the publisher Alientrap (= Lee Vermeulen). If that fails due to the lack of interest, then consider your question answered.
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

Well if you find a developer during your search, could you maybe point him/her to the xonotic site? :o)
