I mean literally.. catch fire, make smoke and flames, and burn. Dont leave it unattended. You are pushing it to its limits :) Its like driving a car at 240km/h over a long period of time.. the car might very well be made to run at 240kmk/h, but after a while, it will tear hard on it and it will get pretty hot...

as I said.. if you can get the power consumporoin down some way.. to say around 140-160W or so, that is much much better.

edit:
I'd start with disconnecting the CD drive, then the 40GB disk, then possibly the DVD drive. and if needed, clock down the CPU some.

edit2:

and oenthier thing:
Make sure your fans are running properly

sooooo.. tell me what you want, waht you really-really want
I will proceed directly to the intravenous injection of hard drugs, please.

That is probably because your primary hard drive is a western digital and the jumper is set to "master". check if your disk differentiates between master and single/standalone.

master it not the same as "single" in some cases. I dont remember what maxtor do : dont use maxtor drives. But check if there is any seting called "single" or whatever, there should be a pin-scematic on the drive somewhere.. :)

Yes, if it isn't a special rig (like a barebone or stuff like that). It must be ATX 2.0 compatible, and don't take the cheapest one. If you choose a better brand, 350 or 380W will suffice IMO.

I run a hungrier machine on a 350w w/o problems, but tahts a good psu - one thats rated for 350w constant load. some cheap ones are maked as 350w but only for peek effect, stay clear of thise ;)

As for the hdd. some drives need to have all jumpers removed for single drive operation. there should be a label on it telling ya how to set the jumpers for diffrent configs (usualy on the topside of the drive)
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

..i removed the jumper but still no operation succesful with just the hdd itself and the video card..so from info i gathered i will be needing a 450 watt psu ....a good brand in which i will ask the sales representive for....as now i use a FSP200-60atv so im looking to get the same sort of thing....seeing my computer is running at 200w...which is a miracle really from what ived heard.....i will be getting a new PSU hopefully next monday...so i will post and tell you if that solved the problem...
i thank all people for helping me with this problem....i much appreciate it...

kind regards to all the people that helped me ,
phil5555au,
P.S(i will post round around next week, when i have installed my new PSU...)
