I'd suggest an Antec NeoPower HE. It's a modular design with the cables being seperable from the main unit and it has the highest efficiency of any PSU. The bottom model is 430W and that would definitely be enough.

Well...... iz da shit if You ask me.

I think You get along with it in between don't you? But if you got the money or something, be sure to buy a rig with a real CPU next time :D

i bought a 600w psu today...i am still getting the same problem.....any help will be much appreciated...and my cpu is 2.8Ghz..when i bought it i thought it was a decent enough cpu...my cpu is 2.8ghz so for games and that, it is satisfactory for the requirements...i just do not get it...its impossible to get a cpu socket 478 with a L2 512kb max which my mobo handles and 800FSB,P4-s800mx,i am really disgusted...of my computers performance...the speed is fine...just because it is a celeron does not mean that it is a piece of poo...processor's a processor..then again the requirements for games do not say intel celeron, they say intel pentium......so would that be why?

Well, the celeron is fine for jobs like office, internet, that kinda stuff where the CPU doesnt have to calculate too much.

When doing things like image editing, video editing, sound editing, CAD, CAM and everything else where the CPU has to do many calculations (and that's what many games also require), the lack of second level cache is getting obvious. second level cache is a kinda RAM as well, the fastest one, and expensive. This is the reason why Pentiums are more xpensive than celerons. The only reason why celerons exist is they are cheaper.

For that, no gaming rig would be built up with a celeron generally.

Right.. but the Celeron should be ok for Nexuiz. Nexuiz is not very demanding on the CPU..

Sure it's okay for Nexuiz. Although I have to say there are many with celerons who complain about bad performance in association with more players.

Another funny and amazing thing is:
In extreme cases a very strong VGA (GPU and/or big RAM) can sometimes slow down the performance when it demands too much data from the CPU or/and the chipset of the mainboard (did I express that right now?). Everything in a computer has to run in a harmonic way, that's the art of the right PC architecture and the secret of really fast Computers.

Generally the chipset's and mainboard's performance is an underestimated point when talking about performance.

Is this performance consistent across OS's? Download Knoppiz games edition DVD, burn to DVD, boot it up, install the nVIDIA drivers for it using the built in wizard, then run the included version of Nexuiz and see what happens. Does the performance match?

Postby phil55au » Sat Sep 02, 2006 8:41 am

hello again..got a psu ,games stil run slow but the main problem i think is what is causing the games to be slow might be this: please help me out with this..

i open a window of any app say-explorer,firefox,notepad etc any application..
when i hold the mouse on the applications window and move the applications window around on my screen, the cpu usage jumps to 100% and stays there...then i stop it moving it around the cpu usage drops to normal...this is wierd because it is only like 2d...so my 3d games obviously are running slow because of this ''bug'' or whatever i have...i have scanned for everything using every utility for viruses, malware, spyware etc..installed windows,,latest drivers...what do i do ...once i solve this issue games should/will run swiftly...
PLEASE HELP ME IN ANY WAY YOU CAN...

thankyou very much ='(
