NVidia said it's a good move, as in future there will remain only one manufacturer of CPU chipsets and GPUs that will support AMD and Intel Processors - Nvidia! Must be, ATI will be forced to stop their engagement for Intel chipsets. Now, that's what they said.

For all my fellas using Notebooks with ATI chips and running on Linux things can only get better - hopefully :)

That's one way of looking at it and I have considered that.

The problem I see is that because currently AMD is considered the better processor for Linux (better for 64-bit), AMD may try to offer ATi graphics and core logic as being the components to use with it's graphics card. For Linux users that could mean:

good processor = awful graphics and chipset drivers

Whatever, I do hope that ATi's Linux drivers get better but for me (and from specs I've seen, many of your guys machines) I still feel it should be:

AMD processor + nVIDIA chipset + nVIDIA graphics = Linux box

I like AMD, i like ATI HARDWARE ... not software, so if amd desides they have to fix the software of ATI, i think i'll be happy :)
EDIT : AMD -> ATI
