Zero Grav?

Postby Cinquero » Wed Aug 23, 2006 4:30 pm

I'm trying to set up a zero-gravity server. Unfortunately, veritcal movement is not possible without grappling hook. Is there any cvar to enable thrusters or something like that?

No, but SavageX made a standalone mod that is like that.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Well, I'm toying around with a stand-alone mini game based on Darkplaces, featuring "Trek style" space combat...

However, this isn't exactly connected to Nexuiz zero-gravity.

Is it playable? That looks like a bit of fun!

Yeah, it basically works but needs a bit of polish.

I'll most likely put a version online soon. Won't be as good as Nexuiz, though ;-)

Do you have any idea how cool this can be? Throw in some asteroids and mines, some more ships (vehicles, avatars, ...) to choose from and we have a cool new addicting game!

Some landscapes would be great too...

A new version I have floating around here has Asteroids (otherwise it's basically impossible to navigate properly... the skybox just doesn't give any hint where you are).

I do all this stuff to learn Blender a bit - the ship seen on the screenshot is my very first "real" 3D model.

And yeah, I'm toying around with the thought to put in e.g. orbital weapon stations firing at you and a few alien ships...

I have an early model for an orbital station on my disk, too.

However, at the time being the time invested is nothing more than a few hours, so it's already cheap fun but e.g. the bots don't fight too well.

Hmm.....

Although the wrong universe, a Death Star trench run would be extremely cool...
