Are you satisfied with website printing? What browser are you using? What software is out there?

usually printing out websites is bullshit because most websites use many images, and these images are usually at low resolution (72 dpi) und not suited for printers

Imagine you have a page with alot of text and images (most likely alot of ads, too) and you only want some of the pictures and certain paragraphs. So it would be a nice way to select the areas you want to print and crop the page to your liking.

Is there such a browser/add-on or other software?

I doubt HQ print is what hes looking for. anyways optical resolution of 72 dpi is just fine, and most printers are not able to do mutch better w/o special paiper anyways.

Thats hardly what he asked now is it?

Good answer, im sure that info helps alot. ;)

Now for the answer.
Firefox lets you print the selected area. This however may not be nuff since you may whant to have multiple parts of teh same page printed ("split seletion"). I havent realy done this myself, i dont like papir copies, but i would imagine some WYSIWYG editiors has the ability to download a certin page for editing, that could be an option for gettin rid of whatever it is you need to get rid of. a more lowtech aproach would be to screenshoot teh page and just cut away the "rothen pices" =)

when I need particular parts of a webpage I copy it into OpenOffice Writer and get my information ordered and with proper layout before printing it out

I disagree. The website side is just as important as the browser side for decent printing, and I honestly answered that the software I used for decent printing is a website with good printer formatting.

I see your point, but i still uphold that this was a perfectly valid answer to the question. It also perfeectly covers weither I'm satisfied with website print formatting :) To increase the awareness overall about these matter will only help in better multi-media formatting of web data.

Sure the best option is site support if avaiable, but thats to often not the case. (i would have to disagree tho; imo the site side is more important since almost any dumb old browser can do a pretty print from a nicely formated-for-print doc) Telling the end user what the ppl that manages the server he surfs on needs to do dont help the end user, this is my point.

i did a quickserch on firefox extentions and found one that may be what you need:

Firefox and its addons...

Just to make clear: Its not for me. I use PaintShopPro (or any GFX app) and StarOffice (or any text/word/office... whatever) to get the exact results i want and it never occured to me to ask for more or that there might be another way. But my father isnt very comp-savvy and puzzled me with this idea.

I will test Firefox on my father and see if its DAU-safe. :P
