Postby Vermeulen » Sun Nov 18, 2007 10:27 pm

GameStop locations across the US are starting a Nexuiz PC gaming challenge in their stores.Interactive kiosks are currently set up in 10 different stores in 8 US cities. The kiosks give users 2 minutes to earn the high score by doing the most damage possible to their AI opponents.

The highest monthly scorer in each location wins a $100 GameStop gift card. There will be new maps every month, and each player is allowed one game per day.

Game play is open to GS customers ages 13 and up, and ages 17 and above are eligible to win the monthly gift card for the high score.

Cities with the Challenge: Dallas, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco

Dang, closest to my current location is Dallas, but that's still like a six hour drive!

This is pretty awesome though :)

Los Angeles is a couple of hours away, so I'll probably pass, but this is great news anyway. More publicity means more players.

How did this come about? Did GameStop just do this on their own or did Alientrap prompt it?

Congrats, that is awesome exposure. It's great to see free/freeware games getting more and more recognition lately :)

Guys from Alientrap, congrats!
How did you make such deal with GameStop?! And who sponsors hardware and such?

Unfortunately, I'm not going into Chicago any time soon. If I did, I would own all (for my area, at least), as long as they let me customize my weapon layout. All it takes to Pwn bots is a lot of laserjumping, and rockets. Maybe I could sneak in a little R.Arena setting :)

Really, how did you guys get them to support it like this, I've never heard of a for-profit company supporting something alternative (and free) to them.

It's supported by Ads, so right before you play you see a small advertisement.
