What about the Ubuntu repository? In Ubuntu 9.04 its still only the 2.4.2 downloadable :( Since 90% of the new players come to Nexuiz through Ubuntu its quite a serious issue.

But one that you simply can't solve. Nearly all distros have the policy that within a stable release they only do bug & security fix updates, never a new major release.

Since you know Nexuiz already: deinstall the Ubuntu-version, download the official Nexuiz release via Sourceforge or Bittorrent and install that.

Heh, the problem is not for me ( i dont even have Ubuntu installed currently) but for all the new guys come to Nexuiz and they dont know that there is new release, they assume that the package in Synaptic is the freshest one. Its really unlucky that a casual player who doesnt know too much about Linux and Nexuiz (thats why he is trying to install everything through Synaptic) can only experience the earlier version :(

If a distro keeps providing an older version, that's nothing to do with Alientrap. Distros have their policies on packaging and if you don't like a distro having old packages, change distro. There's plenty of them. More productively if your distro does not have the latest packages, why not volunteer yourself as a package maintainer?

Anyone playing online with an older version will see messages at various points about later versions being out so there's no way we can do more. Alientrap does not package the game for the distros.

I got fed up with the 6 monthly release model which leaves you with obsolete software 90% of the time so I switched to Gentoo but am in the process of moving different systems to Arch now. Much better.

I feel dumb. I downloaded the "patch" ... do I just copy-paste the contents into the existing Nexuiz folder on my computer? It seems to be snagging on a file called "Current:" and stopping when I do copy-paste it.

Oh well I'mma back up my config and just download the full. No harm done.

Moxie: What system are you on? How about a screenshot? Sounds very strange. Maybe the copy dialog just want to ask if its ok to overwrite some file (which is needed for example for engine files, docs and suchs..) Only the 'content' patch is simply a new file.
