DCC's Delight Server News

Postby Sxen » Sun Oct 29, 2006 2:21 pm

Hi,

starting today, we are shuffling the maplists for the 4 public servers once a day.

For the technical background, see this post.

The currently playing maplist for the DM server is always visible on the Maplist page.

Sxen

(PS: I'd like to use this Thread as some kind of "announcement thread" linked from the http://delight.vapor.com/ main page, so please don't reply to it. Thanks :-))

IRC Channel

Postby Sxen » Sun Nov 12, 2006 11:29 am

Hi,

there's an IRC channel into which chat, scores and other assorted messages from the DCC Delight servers are gated. It's #dccdelight on ArcNet (not Quakenet). You can use "delight.vapor.com" Port 6667 for a server. If you have something which groks IRC URLs, you can click on

irc://delight.vapor.com:6667/dccdelight

There is an IRC bot for each of the servers sitting on the channel:

dccdelight - is for the Plain DM server
gbdelight - is for the TDM server
newbiedelight - is for the Beginner's server
pussydelight - is for the Minstagib server
onedelight - is for the 1on1 server

Additionally, the messages are color coded per server.

Using the "/ignore"-function of most irc clients it's possible to select which of the servers you want to see.

Q3Mappack4Nexuiz installed

Postby Sxen » Sat Nov 25, 2006 7:15 pm

Hi,

Strahleman's q3mappack4Nexuiz.pk3 is now installed on the Delight Servers, making all the maps available via "vcall chmap".

Since all maps are in a single .pk3, autodownload of a single map will actually (after quite some time) get you all the of the maps. If you prefer to download the pack without rate limiting, you can do so at http://delight.vapor.com/maps/q3mappack4Nexuiz.pk3 -- put the resulting file in "dlcache" (and make sure your browser didn't rename it to .zip or so on the fly)

In addition, the following maps are now in the standard map rotation for the Plain, Minsta and TDM servers:

    'dm_ikzdm1'
    'dm_pukka3dm2'
    'dm_qbeast'
    'dm_quimera'
    'dm_straledm5'
    'dm_klzegypt'
    'dm_bal3dm3'
    'dm_batcula'
    'dm_chronic'
    'dm_geo-core'
    'dm_jaxtourney2'

They're also available for voting on the Map List and Vote page at http://delight.vapor.com/maplist.php

Enjoy :)

Hi,

the big all-in-one .pk3 has now been replaced with individual map .pk3 files for much quicker download.

And some of them are nice and well-done if I may add :)

the TDM server hung today until someone did a vcall restart. Can you please check your server log for related log lines?

Look for errors related to exec and changelevel, please.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

The servers now run 2.2.1 (and, thanks to div0 and esteel, a patch which should prevent the "hanging after map" problem)

Still, why doesn't this happen on my server then? Maybe it is a map I don't run on my server... the Q3 mappack seems to be a bit buggy anyway and needs a fix... for example, it has lots of shotguns, but no MGs, and one REALLY bad performing map
