I still hate it!

It's more like my wife. If the heating is on 22 degrees she feels like it's too hot. Instead of setting it to 21, she turns it to 12 degrees, cause it's just too hot. Obviously, 12 degrees is to cold, but not in the logic of my wife...

Similar with the weapon settings: the mg is to powerful, lets make it useless so nobody complaints about it anymore. Instead of making it a little bit less powerful.

About the shotgun which 'is too powerful' for an initial weapon. I think that's just an opinion: Why must the initial weapon be weak? Just to make all the other weapons more powerful in relation with the shotgun.

I already started playing Nexuiz less often, soon I will just quit... just a pity but I'll find another game to play...

While I could agree, that the SG might be a bit too weak, but hey, that's a starting weapon, it should be a bit weaker, than the others you can pick up. The MG is still pretty powerful though. It's just not 3 shots from secondary to kill your opponent.
As I said in my previous post, RL is vanilla too. It was only changed for 1-2 days.
Btw. I tried to stay to as close as classic Nexuiz as I could. If you have SVN, check it out. The weapons are lot more different.

Yay. And yeah though I do agree with Obi that seesawing it to extreme values wouldn't really help much, but this will at least force nooblings to actually pick up and learn higher weapons. Rather than relying so much on the shotgun and MG spam. MG campers really take the fun out of the game when they can stop you dead with a few random sprays even if you're loaded with rocket launcher/nex skillz.

Obi: think of it this way. It may be alright for you, since you've played before. But for noobs, setting the starting weapons to be extremely powerful promotes a reliance on them. Why should they bother to learn how to nex when they could kill anyone with a weapon that's basically free on spawn?

I do recommend finding a middle ground rather than polarizing everything. Same as what happened with the all the nerfs before. They were rather extreme.

That is exactly the point of it, yes. There must be an incentive to get other weapons. Once other weapons have to be used to be effective in the game, skills like denial of weapon (by stealing it from opponent), sniping players to prevent getting them, sharing weapons/areas within a team, .... come into play. WIth strong start weapons every game might turn into a FFA "let's frag" game. If you wanted to play that, go play minsta :P

EDIT: whose bright idea was it to turn BBCode off ?

idk, but fixed.

I agree both that the shotty feels over-nerfed in svn and that there need to be a reason to ind other guns. Id like to test a range falloff solution to it, and keep the in-yer-face power abt the same as 2.5.2 but with a fst falloff past say 400 units or so. secondary has always been sort or iffy imo, and start ammo need to be less.
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

As a regular in DCC publics though, DM and CTF, some quick comments about the recent changes :
Damn it feels rather good now! especially in DM, control/timing/weapon grabbing is nice and happening. No more lemmingstyle rashing ppl with 30ping sging the heck out of you stacked at 150/100.
In CTF, things do feel also rather nice as well. Nex camp will never stop, but wth, its supposed to be like that in open maps : )
rl, feels right, mortar too, electro i would increase just a bit the primary, same with clink. and that's it! maybe crifle increase in the headshot to say 140. No other complaints suggestions, oh except : PLS Bring back 70mm13 (penthouse map!!!) on the DM servers! and that other curse of smtgh one! they were f* brilliant :)

all in total, thx guys for the changes, thinks seem to be much more playable now.

just a question - why is the set of DM maps so limited on DCC's Plain Delight? There are so many maps out there (think about all the Strahlemann's Quake map conversions), are they all rubbish/unplayable/stupid?

Just curious, really... As I don't have enough reliably free time for team games these days and I don't like being forced to let down mates, I am playing almost exclusively on DCC's Plain Delight nowadays, and sometimes I feel I know all three of them maps on that server by heart :o)

Because after the exams period I had to start writing my thesis, and I couldn't find HOURS to look at all the maps out there, wether they are enough large for DM games with 8 people or not. I'll finish my thesis on next week tuesday, and I hope I'll have some time after that.

No, you're still wrong :D
esteel and me are the active admins of DCC servers.
Let's say this way: esteel is somewhat responsible for the technical background (as I lack bash scripting skills) for the servers: he has written several scripts and other config stuff, so we both can easily manage the servers.
I'm mainly responsible for the media background, managing maprotation, config settings, etc. etc. I'm also the more rigorous about the players who play on the server, I wield the allmighty BANHAMMER more easily ;)
