isn't scripting used because if they made better AI then it would use up more CPU, and for the few times the game/level designers want unique behaviour for a bot they have that extra choice.

The problem is that 'really' intelligent behavior is very hard to do.. scripts make that easier but scripted behavior is not very cool.. there were some nice vids of the bad behavior of enemys in hl2 ;)

Script or no script, not mutch of a diffrance. Unless the script system is very limited. The thing is that, like esteel say, good behavior is hard to do. Also its computer intensive AND many times you may not wish for the oponents to behave human-like.

I think, or at least hope, that this is one area that will improve alot in newer games. It would be realy fun to play a game with realy impressive AI foes.
HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

I thought Halo 1 did a pretty good job of allowing a two-player coop. I haven't played Halo 2, but I've played Gears of War, which was designed from start to be cooperatively played. What made Gears of War an excellent coop game is that the second main character is controllable by both human and computer AI (not at the same time). Although the idea is not completely new (Project Eden did this for 4 main characters), I think this is definitely how more games should be done.

COOP

Postby DeVsh » Fri Jun 08, 2007 8:14 pm

I takes 1.5 more out of you graphic card that's why they want to have more details, giving up coop. The Whole Game could be in coop you could have a boot which would talk random stuff but if you wanted the screen would split and someone could sit along you to play!

Anyone thinks of Gamepad support? PLz
I only made isotromic games, websites an unfinishe flash game!
