This vote wont change anything. Because it's technically impossible to just port it to ps3. I think you need the PS3 SDK and a license. And that costs a lot. I also think the menu, models, maps and netcode needs to be much more optimized for the PS3. That requires much more man power, and a few can agree to do THIS kind of work for free.

If just Linux on PS3 could access the gpu more directly it could be possible for the ps3 to just run Nexuiz like normal.

But what if a donation thing was started? Also someone could ask Realtech-VR how they did it.
Also I said ask if Sony would help. If they did most of the work...

Sony wouldn't help, because they have no interest in Open Source. They're a huge combine, their interest is money. Open Source doesn't make any money.
Imo it's that simple.

This. Plus the fact FPS games are lousy to play on consoles anyway.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

They worked made NoGravity for the PSP and it will be in the PSN Store soon.

I just dont ever play console games. I was at my friends the other day playing Halo 3 and I just sucked ass. I didnt have a damn clue how to work the stupid nobbly bits and like 6 different buttons. Its just so damn crude.

I wanted my keyboard and mouse BADLY so I could actually aim.

I think I speak for all the devs when I say...

It would waste too much time porting the engine, and getting the licenses/sdk. Plus, nobody owns a PS3, and FPSes suck on consoles.

If there were a PS3 port, you'd have to rebalance everything so that it plays well on a console. So that would mean you need separate servers for the PS3.

Also, if a new feature is implemented you have to port that to the PS3 branch, and blah blah blah. Long term wasted time.

And by the way, I don't think the PS3 owners would be happy with a game that downloaded maps to the hard disk.

In conclusion, it is not worth it. Buy a good computer and gamepad, or just learn to use the mouse and keyboard.

Of course, they could do all this stuff.
But they wont't.
It's just too much effort for too little of a gain.
I don't know, what made them port No Gravity. Maybe they hope to acquire the rights and to make 39845762 sequels on their own... :P
CrazyClone wrote:I would Buy it, so would all of my friends. Becasue some of them cant get it to work on their PC.
Yeah, this might be the case. But I don't think, that Sony would like to support the porting process without some money or at least a guarantee that the project would do profit.
And imo it's pretty much useless to port an Open Source project, which is changing all the time to a console, which is kinda the embodiment of Closed Source.

EDIT: This topic was already discussed some time before. We came to the same conclusion.
I even started a thread to port Nexuiz to the Pandora handheld... It just won't work...

I think they should just work on making the PC version even more awesome... somehow.
