  • I don't know if the Minstagib Nex should be different from the standard Nex or not.
All I know is that Gut_Eater is right. With this reload time Minstagib is not as much
fun as it used to be. It used to be a very fast-paced game with a lot of action.

I don't play 1on1 or ladder, so I don't need Minstagib to practice skills...
For me it's just the fun that counts in Minstagib, which means it's all right
with me if the Minstagib Nex is different from the standard Nex.

  • Well, i totally agree with ai, that minstagib-nex should not be different from "normal"-nex. That would be too confusing.
So i still would like to have another solution for weapon-balancing.

  • I agree with Urmel and ZWERG.
After all Minstagib is a mod and it has been loved the way it always was (means: the faster reload)

So i don't see a need to change the Nex-Reload time for minstagib only because it's better for regular dm/ctf/1on1 play, since that has nothing to do with minstagib at all.
And I believe that the players will figure it out and won't be confused by that. It's just a matter of practice. So you need to get used to the different styles of playing nexuiz, that's all.
Playing dm AND minstagib is of course a bit harder then, because the reload time is different, but mastering all the other weapons (remember: the Nex is now not as "useful" as it used to be) is just as hard.

Minstagib is just more fun with faster reload time, that's actually all i wanted to say ;)

  • Well the idea was to keep the settings the same for a start so that 'every mod' feels the same.. and if people complain server admins (or we with next release) can change that.
    Just set g_balance_minstagib_nex_refire to 1

  • I dont like the new refire time.. mainly because its now faster to change to another weapon and back rather than weiting for refire.. thats stupid.

Well, that can be one sort of play if you switch weapons like that all the time, though IMO it takes of the concentration, after switching back to the nex again that concentration (or even position) will be lost which gives it higher posibility to miss (which is in my case).

Though I just now played 1on1 with morfar with 2.2.1 and I gotta tell you, I love the way the nex is now, it's deff not as usefull and that showed on the demo I recored, I had to switch to another weapong (shotgun or grenade) to kill him and I didn't use nex as much as if I missed he would have finished me off before I could react. This way more weapons together with the nex is vital. For anyone who want to take a look at that it's on http://www.origionstudios.com/ai/nexuiz/demos/2.2.1/1on1. (I won btw ^_^)
He did complain that he wasn't used to the new nex refire though.

So my opinion stands, don't change the nex, but make clear to those who wants to put up a server that they can change the nex manually if they want faster gameplay, as a mod originates from the original but can be changed if one so wishes.

  • Actually I'd propose - IF you make the Nex faster in Minstagib than in normal gameplay, the difference should be larger than 1.0 vs 1.5 since it is irritating to switch otherwise.

Maybe 0.5 or 0.7 could be worth trying for Minstagib.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I realized it's harder than I thought to get used to the new Nex settings :/ But I hope I'll get used to it soon. And I need to change weapon more often now.
