I'm starting a gaming clan called Team Storm Assault. Right now we are just a nexuiz clan, but plan on adding some more games later (quake 4, anyone?)

What exactly does a clan do anyway?

I used to run a clan back in my Q2 days (called Clan of Diversity.. CoD). What we did was play on one very popular Q2 server. Actually there were two, one in Dallas,TX and one in Jacksonville Florida. What we did was play a couple of clan vs clan matches.

Is that what other clans do?

ummm, yeah, that's pretty much what all clans do, do clan vs clan stuff, and practice.

ok, just making sure I wasn't aware of some other aspect of clans.

Is there etiquette like "do not team up against random people on public servers" or something like that?

I read that there are a few Nexuiz clans, but I haven't seen any of them in a group on the public servers.

The Dave clan doesn't count

I do like the idea of training. I remember training with my old clan. We all learned a lot from those training sessions.

It is more the other way round...team up aginst (the) RANDOM people

So how is your Clan doing? Any news for us? I think every new clan is good and will help in creating even more clans

I think the more clans sign up on 2on2 and actually starts to play more clans will follow. If there are clans but no one is playing, that won't attract others as much.
Also, I think advertising the ladder site better would attract more people. Like in nexuiz, redo the menu design a bit and add the site to the ladder (and making sure to state that that link goes to the official ladder site).

Or something like that would be good I think.

we should make a list of nexuiz clans. Anyway, nobody really came to the tryouts, so I recruited who I saw outside of my server. I'm pretty much posting all the stuff about the clan on the site (in my sig) We have two members so far. So, I will recruit people who come on the server and are pretty good, and have registered on the clan site. Once I get the logging on the server to work right (see my post in "support/bugs") I will put stats on the site thanks to nil's stats script from DCC delight. His script works a bit differently and he is using the same server for the site and the nex server, so I will make an interpreter that will convert a log file into the right database scheme, and will be run in a shell script that uploads a new log file, and "visits" a php script that will dump the current values and re-write the new stats to the database from the log file in a cron job every 10-15 minuites or something like that. That should be done in time for christmass .
