  • Better Mac support won't come anytime soon.

Simply because I am the only dev who has a Mac and it works for me (although unplayably slow - the ATI drivers for OS X seem to suck performance-wise, even X.org's radeon driver is faster on this 9200). I certainly won't buy a Mac again, I am so disappointed by OS X.

If there is any Mac developer here who can try to help, please try fixing the problems (which I never had) and send in a patch. Thanks. Known problems to me are:

    • Black screen (doesn't happen for me)
    • No OS X 10.3 support (but that's stone age, and supporting it appears to break with universal binaries)
    • Installation of patch is hard (won't fix, as the patch needs to still work for Linux and Windows)
    • data directory not inside .app (won't fix, because otherwise both Nexuiz.app and Nexuiz-SDL.app would need their own copy of the data)
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Hmm...maybe a better implementation of models(better animation),also agree of performance optimization:)

I am not programmer but since this game is based on heavily modified quake1 engine(and my jaws dropped when i have seen awesome graphic) i guess engine has its own limits.
My question is about models (can you achieve that effect like in ut 2007)

    PS.
The shadowing system looked to me like from some screenshtots from UT2007.(no kidding )

Theoretically, it can be obtained. In reality, not many modellers are willing to contribute models to a GPL game, and even when they are, proper modelling is generally a slow process with a lot of tweaking, especially when there's a lot of visual effects being implemented.

I don't even know if there's anyone actively working to remodel the game. There have been a lot of people saying that they were interested in the past year, but as of yet there haven'tb been many results (which I think is the effect of using an obscure, proprietary model format)

  • Popularity is growing, though. It just appeared as the featured game on a PC gaming mag's included disc, plus reviews are favorable almost everywhere, and I'm pretty sure the major releases have hit /. and digg. As long as PR stuff like that keeps up, it'll keep getting more popular.

  • I'm a north american player, im new to the forums, but i'd have to say that one thing that would attract players would be better looking character models. For some characters i can't even tell whether it's female or male. Also more beginner friendly things to the game.
