Hi everyone. I mentioned in another thread that I will be selling nexuiz CDs pretty soon. I finished all the graphics for the CD. Included will be the disk, and a booklet with system requirements and a description of the game. This is pretty much professionally printed material, so it looks like a real game you'd buy at a store, exept there is no box or installer. On the disk will be the game, map packs, some DEBs and RPMs, and some other things posted on the forums such as alternate models. Here is a picture of the disk:



The price will be $18.99 USD. Each disk costs $8.99 to manufacture, so I am making $10.00 on each disk. The money generated from the disk will go into purchasing a new server to be hosted in NY (AKA my basement). It will be able to host more gamemodes, and will hopefully distribute more of the US players among the standard deathmatch server and the server I will be purchasing. Even if you don't care about a new US server, it is a high quality disk and will save you downloading time. All the files will have verified MD5 checksums, so you will be getting the files in perfect condition. The only thing I need to do now is download the files, and then send them to the company manufacturing them. I will edit this post when they are for sale.

The server I plan on getting will cost around $1,000 USD, so if you do the math I will need somewhere around 100 disks sold. Anything under that I will have to get a lower quality server, so the more disks the community buys, the better the server will be. I am not making any money off of this, all the funds made will go towards the server. The disks should be ready in about a month.

I wish you the best of luck- you wouldn't want to pay 900 bucks for something noone buys. If you go along with it make sure to design a really snazzy cover slip too, maybe with some screenshots, and captions like- "fast paced action," and "competitive online multiplayer" =] Maybe right a short readme, and forum referral links, etc.

Also- are you going to mention (on the box or in person) that nexuiz is free as in free speech?

Cyan is just trying to cynic.. it will still be quite some time till 3.0. That CD looks really nice. *G* make sure to send Vermeulen a copy.
