  • I think mac keys might be named differently. Try using the Options/Controls menu as esteel suggests.

    alias -myzoom "fov 105;sensitivity 5.2"

Those two should also be identical:

  • Hi!
You can bind straight to config.cfg by opening MacHD -> then press Shift+Cmd+G -> It brings up menu called: Go to the folder. -> Write there: ~/.nexuiz
that should bring up Nexuiz Data folder, where you can find config.cfg and edit binds.

In Data folder there is also autoexec.cfg where (too) is possible to make aliases. If not, one can make it by using mac's own TextEdit application and renaming it like that.

    -I wish that helps a bit. 8)

  • That wasn't the point, but thanx for correcting my reply.
You mean that aliases should also/or only be made from terminal in game? How about binds? -Maybe that is why some of my aliases doesn't work.

  • If you enter aliases via the game-console they are JUST NOT SAVED. In fact aliases are NEVER saved. Next time you start Nexuiz those aliases are gone. Each alias you want to persist HAS to go into autoexec.cfg

Binds however are saved to config.cfg EACH time you exit Nexuiz. It does not matter were they came from (some config file or the console) they will be saved.

Oh and by the way some keys were found not to work on mac osx.. that will get fixed in the next version. But still i'm not totaly sure what Leader really wanted to know :)

  • This is how it should look for team message binds.
    Within 'User' directory

    Within the files.

  • i would if i could but i cant.

for those without macs this is how you bind a key

    bind <key> "say ___________"
or to bind a team message

    bind <key> "say_team__________'

guess this is exactly what was told by torus - isn't it ?
except torus' way is even better, because he uses aliases which make them more flexible ...
if you need to bind the messages to another key you change the alias - not the whole bind. so if you recognize ingame that a bind is crap you could simply switch to ingame-console and enter something like 'bind "newkey" aliasname'.

if this is done your way you have to enter this:
'bind "newkey" "whole fucking message that might be long and with some^4color or $variables"'

what might be a bit complicated during battle.

  • Honestly i think this is a non-valid argument.. have you ever changed your binds ingame???
I have a fixed set of team messages and try to NOT change them if possible. Of course i sometimes find things to improve but i never did so ingame. And also you hardly have the same message on two keys so alias name "say_team blabla ^color" is not really shorter then bind x "say_team blabla ^color"..
The use of variables is a nice thing as it saves one from repeating stuff but i used a good text editor which is just as good at that :)

  • Heh"... a little typo :)

Uhm while some of us are said to be highly advanced bots build into this forum i doubt anyone here is an advanced graphical user interface :P

In picture that Torus send previously: autoexec.cfg & torusKB.cfg looks like difrent from config.cfg and torus.cfg. For some reason files in my .Nexuiz "user" directory
all looks like those conf ig.cfg and torus.cfg. How can I change that so I can get it work right? I gues that is one reason binds/aliases don't work.

    -Thank you again.

  • well all those three files were created by torus.. none of those do come with Nexuiz or are ever touched by Nexuiz. All Nexuiz does is to read the file autoexec.cfg when starting up.
And inside those files you can use the 'normal' Nexuiz-console syntax to do stuff.

I created 3 separate files for ease of use, so I can fool around with the KB one when I need to edit Key Binds, and the alias one when dealing with aliases. No other reason.

  • Yes i basically do it the same way. I have one file with my basic settings like binds and brightness, crosshair settings, one with linux specific settings and one with low effect settings.
Just to organize it better and have it all clean.

  • Okay.
    1) So I don't need to put separately key binds to config.cgf,
because autoexec.fg will run -> anyname.cfg that will command -> anynameKB.cfg to run binds that one desire?

    2) Here is a picture from my user directory. I'm sure you'll notice right away what's the problem...

  • We would need the contents of autoexec.cfg at least.. 4kb for all files looks a bit strange. Did you just copy config.cfg or what?
    i'd guess autoexec.cfg
    should contain:
    exec skeleton.cfg
    exec skeletonKB.cfg

And thats for sure not 4kb.. also i guess the content of those two is not really what you want. I think you misunderstood something.

  • Now my autoexec.cfg contains only these two lines.
    exec skeleror.cfg
    exec skeletorKB.cfg
Like in the picture Torus send

Should I include all what is in those files to autoexec.cfg?

  • Heh"... :)
I added pictures of files that I have in my"user" directory:
    http://aolpictures.aol.co.uk/galleries/spindelflare/

(I wonder if it would be easiest way for every one , that if some one just could send me his/hers "user" directory files: autoexec.cfg/config.cfg/anyname.cfg/anynameKB.cfg.
I know it is a lot to ask, but I wouldn't send them forward or would not copy them if it is not already on this forusm etec. I would only fix my own mistakes.)

I think - it is pointless to play game before settings are in order, otherwice there is a lot re-learning to do.
