Recently every time I get on Nexuiz, the only people in the games are BOTS. Am I just coming on at a bad time, or are people not playing anymore??

Well, depends on which servers you are joining. Certain servers are populated by human players 24/7. Others aren't at all because they suck, not enough players in the region to which the server suits or whatever.

You can always have a look on server lists like those ones before you join a server:

Depends on the time.. Nexuiz is very popular in Europe around 18:00 - 24:00 CET there are usually at least 80 and up to 120 people playing at the same time. Might not sound like much but its much for a free game. And i also think doom3 might be jealous of that I know only about ONE free shooter game that has more players then we have.

Are you thinking about one of those that totally relies on our master server network?

No, that one had less players than nexuiz for the last few weeks

I think this "it's nothing but bots" thing is some kind of epidemic or just people trying to hurt the game's reputation. Even at it's slowest times, there's *always* people playing the game.

Hmm.. like a few days ago it was actually none expet me and bots.. but that was at an odd hour. and i didt really check servers with ping over 500

Well according to your stats (http://delight.vapor.com/serverlist.php?allg=1) the minimum player count the last days was around 15 players.. a few weeks ago it never dropped below 30. But ofcourse i think at CET 04:00 its mostly US players so you might indeed have a bad ping to those.

The default nexuiz settings are to NOT spawn bots if there is no player on the server. I think there are only a few servers that 'cheat' by having bots all the time. You are free to judge that your self.

And that other game i mean starts with a t and ends with an s..

I wish bots would not show up in the number of players in the server list.
That would lessen the confusion.

Yes, and the one trying to hurt our reputation is that guy who always runs his server with SIX bots.

might as well just be somebody who doesnt know how to sort the server list.

Note that MikeeUSA's server is on the top when sorting by players.

But the engine got changed to support a bot count...
