  • Hey guys, quick question, im trying to set up a DS on an old PPC mac, and followed the sticky to a T. But im getting this error "Quake Error: base gamedir data/ not found!" Im sure this is a simple missplacement of a file, but from what i could tell the server setups were for version 2.1-ish. Any and all help would be greatly appricated!

  • Can you link it? You should basically follow the server setup instructions for Linux, but just use another name for the binary.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • That might be it right there, what i mean is, what is this naming the binary stuff? Do i need to put the path for the "data" folder in the server_mac.sh file, or should that know where to look? And yea, i can copy and paste the error as soon as i get back to my laptop.

  • You can open a shell first (Applications/Terminal).
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again
