Well, the video looks nice but imho it fails to convey the actual Nexuiz "feel" or its potential
Quite honestly, i think the impression one gets from the promo videos is that Nexuiz isn't much different from most DM games (and strangely enough, it seems closer to UT than Quake), except it's very dark and you need to shoot a lot of rockets just too see what's going on around you
So my idea is: why not make a video with excerpts from ladder matches (with the players' consent ofc)?
That would show off the game with all its graphic niceties and some top-notch gameplay as well (nothing against your playing, Vermeulen, but i don't think playing against bots shows what Nexuiz really is about ).
Perhaps have different scenes from different gametypes so to showcase different aspects of gameplay, for example you could put some CTF laserjump wizadry to give people an impression of how fast this game can be, a couple of jaw-dropping air nex shots from 1on1's for the OMFG!!111 factor (oh and btw, what the hell does the announcer say when you nex someone in mid-air? ), some 4-men TDM mayhem and maybe put some freestyle tricking in it too.
I guess that probably the average youtube user mostly cares about the looks of it and the finer points would be lost on him, but then chances are the same guy will be disappointed when the game won't run smooth with all bells and whistles and proceed to uninstall it in frustration.
A video more focused on actual gameplay could draw more experienced players who are more likely to stick with it (not that i consider myself "experienced", but i can say i wouldn't have probably got far with Nexuiz if i hadn't seen the "right" demos early on) and inspire even the utter newbie by showing what's possible in the game. And all of this while displaying all the gfx coolness just as well
Of course this would require some effort to make and no, sorry, i'm not volunteering for it as i have very little experience in video editing and i'm sure it would take me months just to get the cfg/codec settings right, but maybe someone with the know-how may be reading this...

Since I'm gonna start to create the new planetnexuiz page within the next weeks I'll take it into consideration to create such a promo movie, or, iirc, there's probably something going on by kojn or so already. I'll check these things later then when I really have the time for it.

Actually Dokujisan..it's going along (well frag finding wise) very quickly..i just haven't been able to send esteel any demo's in the last 4-5 days.....but he has atleast 10 minutes of stuff to record at the moment im guessing...as soon as i sort a few tweaks i want doing and some quality issues, he will start recording.

I've not seen the video yet Vermeulen, but i agree with secco.

Sorry but I'm going with s3cc0 on this... a promo video should show off a game, not make it look generic... the scenes simply show that Nexuiz has some lighting effect, but it comes across as slow and uneventful, with nothing to distinguish it.

A Nexuiz promo video should show off some intense action and speed. Get some laser jumps and mid-air shoot-outs in there, some nice nex shots, maybe an insane escape from 4 defenders with the flag, a key hunt capture, nailing someone with a rocket by predicting where they'll be, etc.

A promo video needs to make people go "holy fuck, I gotta get this game, that looks awesome".

Also, the beeps or whatever they are detract from the video.

yeah i agree with that.
I really don't have any good gameplay demos, so this video is really just the highlights of a quick 15 minute bot session. If someone wants to make another good gameplay video I'd for sure put it on the nex media page.
