[MAP] tk471dm1- The Warehouse of DEATH! (version 1.5) FIXED!

  • I went and made some smaller crates, using transparencies, which look cool, but I'm losing some of the effect. I had put entities inside of the crates, which I thought would be teaser (items you could see but not get). But it's actually the opposite effect... most of the time you can't see them, but if you run into the crate, you can get the goods! Which, is not bad I suppose, like 'mystery' bonus power ups since you hear the noise and you get items but can't see them for the most part.

    Anyway, I'd like help with this... Should I leave the entities in these crates? Or is that overkill?

    Feedback appreciated, I'm wanting to get this map complete, I could keep adding all kinds of crazy stuff, but I don't want to make it any more than it needs to be. Thank you very much.

    oh, this recent render took 5 hours! Is that the norm?

  • Ack, let me know if you're getting tired of me and my map, lol!

    I've discovered that turning the boxes into detail brushes helps with compile time, and you can now see the entities properly thru the transparency. Compile time dropped from 5 hours, down to about half an hour. Hopefully the latest render will be final (I keep saying that).

  • I was going to mention that on the screenshots as well...hard to tell the quality of the map at times..is everything on max detail?

    i'd like to see some screenshots from someone (esteel, tZork e.t.c) of the map :)

  • I'm doing some fiddling with the screenshots for filesize. I've just uploaded the latest and greatest version of the map too (with the new boxes, etc).
    oh, and the game is set at 16, methnks.

  • Thank you for posting the great screenshots! (How do you get all the data to show that you have, is that from console commands?)

    I found the map being used out there, I do hope people like the map, but I think the version being used is older, and I was able to walk thru some of the crates in my map. The server was nwn-server.de FUN 2.3 (85.214.49.18:26050). Are there any admins around here from that server?

    I probably should have followed a proper revisioning for the map.
    Next one I will try to do so.

    I'm using a beta build of Darkplaces the engine Nexuiz runs on. That's the new hud that Nexuiz is going to have (well and option to change it to that anyway). The graph should be available already. Command is shownetgraph 1.

  • I've done some updates, because I like this map, and if I go to version 2.0 with it, that map will have a lot more going on... this one I call 1.5..... the download (and please overwite) your existing map at the start of this thread, thank you.
