I saw on sourceforge a project called Nexuiz TF but wasn't able to find any further info or dl anything. Is this mod currently being developed? QWTF (and MegaTF) ruled my life 1998-2000.

It's dead (because the code became unmaintainable). There were plans to make a game of it's own based on a q3 engine with the same concept under the name "project alaris" but that seems to be dead as well (at least their website is).
