Changing defaults

  • I've been looking through some of the settings, and was wondering if there is a way to change the default settings for creating a server. I tried the server.cfg and related files, but that appears to be functional for dedicated servers only, and mine is not. Basically, I was looking for a file or something in which I could change all of the default settings [any of the ones that can be changed when creating a server], so they would be loaded every time the game starts. Is this psosible ? I didn't see anything really about that here, though I may have missed something. I'm basically looking for settings like the starting weapons/ammo, bot numbers/level, additional mods, map lists, game scores, all the technical values, like health regen, jumping height, etc. Are these in there somewhere ?

Also, on a unrelated note, is it possible to minimize the game without quitting ? I'm using Ubuntu Feisty. I had thought it might require the use of screen, but I haven't really tried it yet, thought I would see if somebody else had a simpler solution.

    :)

Just rename your server.cfg to autoexec.cfg.

You could either use a bind like
    Code: Select all
    bind <key> "toggle vid_fullscreen; vid_restart"
    or use http://hem.bredband.net/b400150/

  • In the autoexec, can you add other entries, for ammo and weapons and game settings and such as well ?

  • Yes, you can add any bind/alias/setting to any cfg file (however other cfg files that autoexec.cfg have to be loaded manually with "exec foo.cfg").
