Is there any way to disable chat in Nexuiz multiplayer?

Press Shift+Esc to open the console and type: con_chat -1

Only negative effect is that it will also disable the notifications...

You could of course set con_chatpos to something like 100 to put the chat text offscreen.

Only question is, why do you want to do this?

maybe if a new message comes he have to look there and others kill him..
or hes annoyed of xsax or someone

nah, it just appears that i get alot of errors which spam the console. and i dont really need to know that i "got the Nex" or that "tZork killed Kenny".
i'd rather just have my command and chat history. would be great if chat, server "news" and command history were independently controlable. "showHistory_chat" or similar.

good point. mostly because unupdated drivers, missing textures and wireless troubles. 'll post a log file later.

happens quite randomly.

I can change the engine to ignore this message... but why does it happen at all? Can you play, apart from that, or do you regularly get lags?

Do you have anything running that may send signals to the engine? Personal firewall, if yes, which? Or a special mouse/graphics driver?

i do get lags occasionally, but only on overcrowded or high ping servers.
apart from that, i get large blocks of this error, mostly at about noon or midnight and it's more like a short disconnect. i suspect my provider rather than my WLAN router, Windows Firewall, Avast antivirus (that automatically updates at random times), outdated unupdatable laptop graphics driver or buggy wireless USB mouse.
and i think one of my neighbors or a wardriver is trying to hack my wireless network.

So when this error comes, it IS like a disconnect for you then? In that case, the error should not be silenced.
