I donwloaded the .zip file from the downloads page, and I see a lot of files in it.. It's a mix of .dll's, .exe's, .app's, and some linux-x86 ones.
what do I do?

Just extract it somewhere and run nexuiz-linux-sdl.sh or nexuiz-linux-glx.sh (doesn't really matter which one).

I'm also having trouble starting.

When running either nexuiz-linux-sdl.sh or nexuiz-linux-glx.sh it throws me out of X back to gdm.

I have a geforce 6200 and using the nvidia drivers as far as i know.

Not sure where to start looking for my problem.

If nexuiz thows you back to gdm, it's a tipical sign that you're NOT using hardware accelaration. Try to reinstall your nvidia driver.

You're welcome.
I suppose you've made a system upgrade. Next time, be sure to check wether your X-Server has an update or not. Every time you have an X update, you'll have to reisntall the nvidia driver.

i was able to run it, but everything is black except for some items on the ground and my hud..

That means you don't have the map the others are plyaing on, and for some reason, map auto download hasn't downloaded the map. You're missing the libcurl library. Install libcurl, and you'll be fine (it should be easily done with synaptic for example).
