I made a little gameplay movie of Nexuiz. The quality is always a problem in Youtube, but I hope you like it:

Played the game for two weeks now and I must say: GREAT JOB! I never thought a free open-source game could be of such quality, both graphics and gameplay!

Im also trying to make a video with cl_capturevideo but it is always so dark , and when I crank up all lights , then the video looks like its is fullbright almost.

how did you capture you video and with wich settsings femke ?

here is a video that i made with fraps. I tryed to get a high quality video with settings on extreme. my skills sucks in this vid but it was al about trying to get some image quality.

good that i kept the videos because i can not shot like this anymore (i bet)! new mouse+keyboard = sucks

Buying a newly released Razer mouse is like entering a beta test

im used to high sens with 2000dpi and 1000 hz polling

The actual video I made is of good quality, but when you resize it to 2:1 it becomes crappy. When You upload it to YT it really becomes crap. I will try to upload a short big movie in reakl good quality. It's the damn 10 MB limit that is so irritating.

How I made it:

In the console type: 'record 1' (or was it start 1? Cant remember and I'm at work) to start recording a demo
- Do this before the game starts
- You can reach the console by pressing SHIFT-ESCAPE
Startup a game. Play
In the console type: stop
Install Fraps. Limit it to half-size and 30 fps
While recording a demo with fraps, play the movie by typing in the console 'playdemo 1'
I encoded the video with xvid and mp3 in VirtualDub. Also made it 2:1 in size (so tha'ts 4 times smaller than my original playing resolution).

In this way you are not INGAME bound to the 30fps and you can play at fullspeed.

It's just 1000 fps blended down to 45. It gives a result close to real motion blur when movement isn't too extreme

but it looks great

The engine has actually builtin video capturing ("toggle cl_capturevideo", see http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/readme.html), which has much better quality than fraps. With the builtin video capturing the output video will always have the desired framerate, no matter at which speed it was recorded, so you can record at much higher quality settings.

the quality is great with cl_capturvideo but i found it to dark for the first time i used it
so i did al brigness up and colors and stuff but then the vid was to bright

now i found a command in the manual that
scr_screenshot_gammaboost affects the brightness of the output)

And what about the resolution

I had only sucess with 640x480 and 320x240

did anyone succeed to capture movies with 800x600 or 1024x768?

im using xp btw ,

I guess the problem is that at higher resolutions the avi files will be larger than 1GB, in which case the 2.3 engine doesn't write an index. Try using a newer engine from http://141.2.16.23/~polzer/nexuiz/builds/ or use an encoder that can recreate the index (like http://avidemux.berlios.de/index.html)

im still struggling with the colors.

brightness is perfect , quality perfect but still. just need to find he right color setting

That's a bug in avidemux2. You can work around it, though. After switching "Video" to some codec other than "Copy", you can go into "Filters" and add the "Swap UV" filter in "Colors". Then red is red and blue is blue again.
