  • Is there any way to disable the deathmatch announcements that say 3 frags left, 2 frags left, etc..??? They make me anxious especially if I'm in the lead and toe to toe with one or more players.

  • Open the data2008*pk3 with a zip program (it is in the Nexuiz/data folder).
Navigate to /sound/announcer/robotic/. There you will find the files that are played in the situations you mentioned.
Either replace them with empty files or try to just delete them from the pk3, but I dont know if the latter causes errors with Nexuiz complaining about missing files.

I did this and replaced them with blank oggs, and when I try to join a game or instant action match, nexuiz crashes with this error:

I really don't want to disable all announcements, just the ones that say how many frags remain. Also if there was a way to disable that little place counter that shows your rank as a fraction in a DM server that would also be great

  • If you open data20080229.pk3 with a zip program, you can make your way down the folder hierarchy to figure out which sounds you'd like to replace.

In this case, I believe you want "sound\announcer\robotic". If you were to make a "sound\announcer\robotic" hierarchy in your data folder and drag those files into it, you can replace them with blank sounds. Folder structures have priority above data packs.

    i.e. make data\sounds\announcer\robotic\3fragsleft.ogg a blank ogg file.

  • Thats what I did. It worked, the files were replaced, and kept in the same location, and I verified that they were blank (I deleted the audio in a wave editor and saved them).

Maybe they became unreadable by the game or something? Would someone else be able to modify them, and upload them for me?

  • Seems something is wrong with your programm or you made a mistake when exporting the files. To play it save you can use the files from the pack 4m mentioned:

Disables all default announcer sounds. ("Did Yoda show you that?", "One frag left", etc)

Download and open it with a zip programm and simply remove all the files you want still to be played in the game.
The three files you want to keep are: "1fragleft.ogg", "2fragsleft.ogg", "3fraggsleft.ogg"
Delete all other files in the "sound/announcer/robotic" directory and also the complete "sound/announcer/male" directory.
After that place your modified no_announcer.pk3 in your Nexuiz/data directory.
I hope that will do it.
