  • I get a lot of slowdown in water with the hotfix, which I didn't have in 2.4. Also, going up a staircase can be sickening (not smooth to put it lightly, each step is a sudden move upwards), which I also didn't get before.

I've got an Nvidia Geforce 8600gts if it helps :?:...

  • That stair thing is known, it was always there more or less.. the server side and client side movement prediction needs to get closer to each other to fix this. But not for 2.4.1..
Not sure what issues you have about the water.

  • Well if I go into the water and swim, everything is jerky, but if I stand still at the bottom, everything is smooth...

EDIT: Turning off client-side movement prediction removes the problem...But I don't think that's really a fix...

  • After I applied the new hotfix I got some kind of lag when playing with bots. Same thing happens in OpenArena now. What the heck?
It's like in the middle of the battle I try to turn around and my view is stuck and won't move for like 1 second. And then it's instantly on the new position without any mouse movement. Same happens with usual movement, for example, I keep running although I already released the button.
I don't think, it's because of the fix, since it hasn't anything to do with OA, but other games don't have this kind of stuff. Any ideas?

  • Ok, the latest hotfix is available.. as you can see from the name THIS might be 2.4.1 if no more problems are to be found. Please give it a thorough testing. The changes since the last hotfix basicly include the onslaught gamemode, the ons-reborn map, the new announcer sounds and some small bugfixes (again some testing stuff for mac). Please take a look at the link in the first post to see all changes since 2.4..
    Thanks :)

BTW please remove the old Nexuiz/pro dir.. before it was single files, now they come in a .pk3 file like Nexuiz/data

  • Now you really made Butt sad.
Wait a sec. torus made an all-new announcer? That's definitely worth a woot!
gl_workaround_mac_texmatrix 0/1/2 can be used to work around some broken mac features and maybe the rotating hud/textures bug. MAC PEOPLE PLEASE TEST
And what am I supposed to do with this stuff btw?

  • I still get problems, particularly in water, while using the client side movement prediction... :?

But when I disable it, I have to say, the performance has improved!

  • You need to push torus' voice!
I can barely understand, what he's mumbling about :P

New Crylink primary and Hagar secondary ftw!
Did you enhance ingame physics? Imo there's more bouncing now. Like grenades, electro shots and stuff. Could be placebo anyway. More chaos, more fun.

  • DUDE .. what did torus do ? His announcer sounds are awful now. They are overly distorted just in order to get them louder ... this was clearly not properly done :(

I can also confirm that I can now barely understand the stuff he says in the announcements anymore.

I agree. I rather wait for proper sounds.
I don't want a hotfix for the patch again.

  • I didn't notice any difference with graphics after the 4/16 hotfix. No big problems, but the spinning HUD is still there sometimes on my Mac when I have GL 2 shaders on. I tried gl_workaround_mac_texmatrix 0, 1 and 2, but didn't notice anything different.

  • Hey guys, nice release  .

I just got an old machine, installed Debian 4.0r3 Etch on it and thought I should try and see if it can run the Nexuiz dedicated server ok. After applying the latest hotfix it seems to work ok. I too get the "could not load" texture errors but it runs just fine.

Also tried the same version (2.4 + hotfix == 2.4.1) on my SUSE 10.3 machine and it's running ok.

I'll post here if I stumble upon any problems :) .

  • I don't have the water problem but I have a similar problem with the quad and shield. If I take either, or if someone takes one near me my fps drops by hundreds and gets really choppy.

  • Wow, at least the netgraph is working for you. For me it only does by accident. :?

Red stripes on the netgraph advert heavy packet loss, or if for a longer time, a completely interrupted connection to the server. You can have the same effect by just plugging off the network cable while playing online.

I don't think that it has to do anything with the hotfix or whatever. Maybe the difference between plain 2.4 and the hotfixed version is just a working netgraph.

  • Hello, thank you for all the work you have put in!
    I'm reviewing:
    datapatch20080422hotfix.pk3 //not the latest
    nexuiz-linux-x86_64-glx
    on:
    Kubuntu 7.10 64bit
    nVIDIA 6600 with driver

With vid_fullscreen 0 Alt + tab is not passed on to my windows manager, ie can't switch to other apps unless nexuiz is busy. A simple tab might suffice for shifting between the menues. (I have a filemanager open in ~/.nexuiz and editor with my scripts and an irc client on quakenet.org #nexuiz.)
    ---EDIT---
The above works now in May 1:st hotfix.
    ---EDIT---

(I'm running out of keys for my binds. Have to use bindmaps)
"§" (between esc and tab on a Swedish keyboard) not working for toggleconsole as it did for 2.4
    ---EDIT--- works now ---EDIT---
I would also like to bind capslock as in 2.3 and the "win" key. (Could we have different left and right of the shift and ctrl keys?)

If I have, for example, in_bindmap 6 0 I have to set it again before each map round. I guess it was always so. I was told this was because the map voting is done in bindmap 7. It's the same for servers without voting or for singleplayer.

My ping is not seen in-game, neither by me or by other players.

Weapon disappears sometimes and drawvievmodel 1 or 0 doesn't seem to have an effect. When that happens i sometimes can't shoot or change weapons.
---EDIT---I heard this was due to packet loss. ---EDIT---

cl_movement 1 is smoother now than with the 2.4, but i never use it, it feels idk --slower?

Sometimes it's like a movement key gets stuck and I can't release it. I'm being dragged sideways or backwards. Then I'm stuck, mouse or weapon or movement doesn't work. I can still chat and use the console. This does not happen often, takes hours of play to reproduce.

The 2.3 nexbeam is still better than the new fluffy clouds type. Try to play minsta and the difference is huge!

  • i have the same occurrence as kanonmat. i had thot it was my keys and worked around it - i.e. i tapped toward the stuk direction and it lets go. a minor annoyance for me. but im not that good. was playing on a german server today with a mixd euro-american crowd and no problems - this is with 4/16 2.4.1 as i didnt know there was a newer v. d/ling now.

as i understand from the above i can vote to a new gametype? vice the 'ugly' hak from 2.3? and on a LAN not a server?

and i am DIGGIN' the mousewheel script! thanx a ton. 8) 8)

  • Just wanted to say I noticed a Major improvement in performance on my ATI 9600pro - about a 2-3x improvement overall on most maps.

the uinit16 must be the reason, either way I don't have to settle for 30-60fps @ 1024x768 but get 100+ consistently - and ~60 with dynamic lighting+ other features on.

    Thanks...

Just open the console with ` or while the menu is visible with shift-escape that will ungrab the mouse and keyboard..

Hmm numlock and win key should work.. are you using glx or sdl? maybe the other one works.. (for me sdl has better support of keys (and deadkeys))

Hmm the bindmap thing might be done regardless of voting. but basicly i do not see a big problem here.. i guess you are the only one that uses an different bindmap.. :D

Ping was fixed serverside.. you need to play on a 2.4.1 (or hotfix test) server to see your ping with cl_movement 0. currently also antilag is broken for you as the ping is wrong with cl_movement 0.. so i advice to use cl_movement 1 and trying to get used to the slowdown? no idea why it would feel different.. imagination? :)

Hmm are you sure you play on 2.4 server when the gun disapears? It should have been fixed with 2.4.. hopefully

Maybe its something different but i once had a similar problem with the stuck keys, it turned out gnome-screensaver was at fault.. Now i'm using those settings: NOT-TICKED: Activate Screensaver when computer is idle
TICKED: Lock screen when screensaver is active
(the first is needed so gnome-saver does not do the bad thing, the second is useful for having password request after hibernation or closing lid or screen blank from powermanagement. the second can however only be changed when you tick the first for a moment..)
