Federations sound cool to me.

Federations sound pretty silly.

Cool idea, but maybe call it something else.

A new group label isn't needed. Clans and communities are enough.

Doesn't matter. People can make whatever changes they want to OUNS without community feedback.

  • Some of you may know the OUNS site (Official Unofficial Nexuiz Site) which is on wikispaces. ouns.wikispaces.com. Some of us clan members have been using the clan page on OUNS to provide information on clan activity. In addition to clans, there are also communities listed on the page, which groups players who share common interests but don't necessarily compete or train together like clan members.

Recently, someone added a third grouping to the page called "Federations" and changed the menu entry to say "groups" instead of "clans". Here is the description given for "Federations" http://ouns.wikispaces.com/clan#toc5

I tried to give my feedback to this new change, but my feedback didn't really get a reasonable response, so I ended up posting some sarcastic examples http://ouns.wikispaces.com/page/diff/clan/18998423#toc5 of why communities should self-moderate when it comes to community resources such as OUNS pages.

We then had a back and forth about it. You can read the discussion here. http://ouns.wikispaces.com/message/view/clan/3147723 and I then asked him to post a thread on the alientrap forum to get some feedback on this "Federations" before making such a major change to the OUNS clans/communities page.

So, please give your feedback on whether you think it's a good idea to have the OUNS clans/communities page changed to also include Federations.

  • It is the same as a community, just with a different name.

Moo-Z failed to name differences between this federation and the already existing communities. Everything he names is exactly what i would expect from a community to be:

    - Whatever rules are set, they have partial control to change it.
    - The hope of federations is whatever the people in that specific federation hope for. If they want to compete, they can. If they want to do all of these things (Compete against other federations, Train together, Share common interests), they can.

So there is really no need for this. On the other hand he should be allowed to call his community everything he wants.
About the change to the wiki: to me it seems as if this idea has the support of only one or two persons (ignoring something is not a way of showing support). In that case i think it would not be oppressive to revert the change.

  • Yeah sure, if he want to start something new (like that "community") he can name it whatever he wants. But as said, that "federation" thing sounds more and seems more like a community, thus taking up all that space on the wiki is both rude, as in advertising, and wrong (like singling something out). A simple link to this new community would suffice and on that site could all those terms and whatnot be.

  • I would first like to apologize for the vandalism that I did to the ouns site.

Second of all, I would like to say that I do not think that federations are like communities.
Have you ever seen a community with sud-derivatives inside? If you have, I'll be shocked!
Visit this site: http://ouns.wikispaces.com/clan.tf and tell me if you have ever seen a clan or community constructed like this. Have you? Please take into consideration these small things about federations before voting, those of you who haven't.

Please try to look at it this way: It's sort of like taking the idea of a 'loose' clan and turning it into a federation, although some of the federations aren't loose.

Also, there are some people who like the idea! Check out the ouns clan page.

    And, yes, I'm a newbie :P.

  • the term "communitiy" is almost as broad as "group". i don't mind further sub-classifications.

silly or not doesn't matter. may i remind you of some maps? (Augenkrebs, Loof, Suicide Booth, etc....) :)

  • In short, all members are owners, founders, and leaders of [tf].

In order to maintain a complete non-exclusivity, it is required that even nonmembers have these same rights and privileges.

So, even all nonmembers are owners, founders, and leaders of [tf].

Inactive clans is silly. Not active. (btw, I terminated Random 2 days ago - after realizing it was hurting the community to not be active :P)
