  • Safari will either unzip the pk3's or add the file extension .zip to the end of them. Both of which are not helpful.
Prolly put's cream on top too if you ask it, also not helpful.

  • Usually this Auto-Unzipping is pretty handy.
Imo the original .zip stays in 10.5, while in 10.4 Tiger it's being deleted. You can find the source file inside of your trash bin :P

It's very simple- safari automatically appends .zip to the .pk3 and unzips them, and puts the .zip in the trash.

All you have to do is delete the unzipped folder, retrieve the mapname.pk3.zip out of the trash, and rename it so it's just mapname.pk3. Throw that in ~/.nexuiz/data, and you are good to go.

Actually Apple's Webkit is based on KHTML so Konqueror has the same kind of speed. Apple does release it's Webkit source code as required by the GPL but does so in big undocumented lumps meaning that it's pretty hard for anyone else to use. This is the same as what they do for anything else under an open license.

  • Are you sure the downloads are ok and that the names are correct? Read the posts about safari renaming files when downloading? And did you put them in the correct place?
When you start Nexuiz and press shift-escape to open the console you can use page-up/down to scroll the console.. somewere at the start it should list all pk3 files it (tries) to load. Are you files listed there? If not i guess one of the above things is still wrong..

Seeing as how it's maintained by myself and 2 other high ninjaz, I'd say it's trustworthy. mkzelda is working on a md5 checksum list for the new version of the repo to further the integrity of this data.

Have you read the posts about Safari?

  • Wow, I can't believe you guys haven't realized the problem. Usually I would be the one wondering with a post like this.

You need to put it in your /DOTnexuiz folder. The only way to find that is to:
    push Cmd G
    type in the box ~/.nexuiz
click on Data, that's where your map goes. Not in your Nex app folder.

  • This post needs a definitive answer in the form of a mac nexuiz mapping tutorial or FAQ.
By recognising this i have done the hard work all we need now is for somebody to do the easy part and write it.  :? :P

  • iSuck: that depends :) the engine does load pk3 files installed in pathto/Nexuiz/data AND in ~/.nexuiz/data the first one would be for all users that play Nexuiz, the second just for the current user.
If you were a admin that wants his users to play the first would be appropriate, if you are 'a normal user' it does not matter. however if you are the only user and use several Nexuiz installations (like to test the hotfix or just for the fun of having 2.3 and 2.4 installed or whatever) the second path will kinda share those maps among all your Nexuiz installs.

    Hope that makes it clearer?
