The following explanation will replace the current explanation of the Nex on the official Nexuiz Wiki.

Previously theorized to have magnetically fired antimatter at supersonic speeds, a brilliant physician noted the inherent factual flaws between such theory and actual effects in practise. The most viable explanation as of yet, states that the Nex is a relativistic in nature, magnetically slinging a minute number of charged particles at a velocity approaching c. At a relativistic velocity, particles are capable of catastrophic destruction of entire molecule chains, emitting a burst of high energy radiation in the process. The trails have been best explained as the result of intense friction caused by relativistic particles, instantaneously converting nearby particles into quickly dissipating plasma.

This description may be useful (means understandable) native english speakers or at least comparable skills. I'm not so sure however if all natively english speaking persons would understand. Aint there a way to describe the Nexgun in a less academical way?

i see no reason why there shouldn't be both, a short description (for the less-interested) and a thorough explanation (for the geeks).

Iirc the Nexgun was (is?) a weapon that ejects two thin electrical cords that are loaded with a very high voltage. At the moment the cords hit their target, the circuit is closed and the target vapourizes.

Energy is inherently distinct from a charged particle [proton, electron], as energy lacks mass.

A specific characteristic of the Nex, the ability the pierce through soft-targets, renders such statement faulty.

Well... If you had two powerful lasers operating in pulsed mode with a duty cycle just long enough to keep the air within the beam volumes ionised (and therefore conductive) then place a high voltage between the beams you have a long-range stun gun.
