Nex since V2.4

  • Hey.
    For me it is recommend, to make this "new" Nex back to the old. Since 2.4 sniper-maps are unplayable. If I have 100 health and 100 shield, I'm dying, if I was hit. Before there was a little chance to hide after hit. Since 2.4 the maps got more and more to sniper maps. No fun anymore.

  • Have I missed anything, or have you got on a minstagib or modded server by accident?

    Iirc there wasn't a single change with the Nexgun's damage since, err, Nexuiz 2.0. :shock:

  • I can't think of anything in 2.4, 2.4.1 or 2.4.2 that would have helped the nex.

    In fact, 2.4 removed the Nex fast reload trick, so it reduced the potential power of the nex.

    Hmm, though someone told me that 2.4.2 helped their nex aim improve...but I haven't experienced that myself or heard anything else about it.

    Then I don't know, why I can die now with 100/100 by one hit. Hm but okay.

    This game is going to a only nex game without teamplay (at ctf) more and more. Maybe Nex is easy to handle or too strong. There are much peaople saying it, and this is since 2.4.

  • Read the forums. This was said all the time.

    Mappers should simply not put the Nex on maps that are ruined by it. Exception is facing worlds, as it is a remake of an UT map, and should be true to the original (which WAS sniper rifle dominated).
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Well maybe you got hit by two people or someone had the strength powerup? I love strength and nexgun on facing worlds :).
    I do not think nex usage has changed a lot and i'm quite happy now with all the guns. But actually as 2.4 was released people complained about the nexgun too although it was not changes and even got slower as the 'reload-refire' feature was removed. Basicly i think this is just the same.. mostly unwarrented as nothing changed :)

  • Some servers A: don't have 2.4.2 yet and B: some have custom settings. It was either A (which doesn't really matter, since most servers have at least 2.4), B or quad damage, like Esteel mentioned. Or all together.

  • Damn I would have sworn that the radius of the Rocket Launcher had been decreased in 2.4.2 but according to morfar's weapon data it is exactly the same as before. How weird. Oh well, I must be going crazy then, that's a relief.
    Now with new shiny avatar.

    Imho it should be. At least a little. Of course, projectile speed is slow, but the splash damage is almost Redeemer-like :P
