  • For a preview of some CSQC features, join the "over the lazy dog" servers (CTF: 141.2.16.23; KH: 141.2.16.23:26001). Most code is by Blub, our CSQC master :)

    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • Yes! This is excellent! May I suggest a border around the images for map voting, even a transparent red/blue like in the scoreboard

  • Actually, let's wait till we know how to use the mouse in CSQC (and whether this works). But supposedly CSQC mouse support is broken in 2.4.2.

If it does, we'll draw button-like graphics below the voting images, of course...

Another idea could be darkening the rest of the screen while in map voting.

  • You can't download it yet, unless you compile it too - in that case, follow the svn compile instructions found somewhere here on the forum.

As for frags - they do still count, however, most game modes don't count just frags, but add up some more stuff. That's why I changed the name to a generic "score". If you want, I can add a "frags" column that ONLY counts frags in the classic sense, or maybe in the teamplay sense.

In Deathmatch, score == kills - suicides (just like frags). In Team Deathmatch, however, score == kills - suicides - teamkills... and in keyhunt or CTF, scoring gets much more complex.

BTW, the set of columns being displayed can be changed at runtime, using the sbar_columns_set command on the console. Lots of extra columns can be enabled, like kills, deaths, suicides, flag carrier kills...

  • Very nice, I like the variable width font. I'm happy that's in there :). Also, the map previews look great.

  • BTW: In the future, washed out bad JPEG will mean "map not in dlcache yet", while a clear crisp image says "map is in dlcache". So you now can also know in advance whether there will be a download or not ;)

  • Some of us were testing the latest SVN out this week (from 07/27) and we noticed a bug in the scoreboard where if you switch teams your score carries over with you. You guys probably already know this, but I thought I would mention it. I don't think anyone was using SVN client though, if that matters.

Most people liked the new scoreboard, though they miss seeing a quick view of packet loss. Also, I noticed that player colors aren't reflected in the scoreboard unless in team mode. That's usually not a problem, except for one time during a training session when we were trying to figure out who was who.

The thumbnail preview in map voting....that's just excellent. I'm so glad you guys were able to get that part done. All of the CSQC menu stuff that Blub has been doing lately is going to help Nexuiz evolve quite a bit. Thank you Blub!

This actually is intended, as team scores are now tracked separately and no longer are added up player scores. But it could get easily changed.

You can test this by spectating and joining again. In teamplay, this will keep your scores; in DM, the scores will get reset. The code explicitly resets the scores only in non-teamplay.

  • All this looks really wicked :)

Any chance to change the font used in the MOTD or the frag messages by default, too?

The old, regular font is just so ugly...

It would be awesome if one could also create new fonts and specify their usage, their formatting (font size, spacing, etc) for kill messages and other things, too.

You can already do that, using the "loadfont" command. It is just that some stuff breaks if you set a variable width font to some subsystems.

The only reason centerprint used a fixed width font was that the map voting made tables using space characters. CSQC map voting no longer needs that, so you can set the centerprint font to gfx/vera-sans now without much trouble.

Omg, I just about crapped myself.

This is the best thing since sliced bread! A new scoreboard AND a map preview pic for the map selection process.

  • Do you need to have compiled the whole thing to set up the scoreboard and map selection screens on a server?
