Here is teh Official topik of the 1STCFOTYMP : First Nexuiz Communauty FOTY Movie Project.




What do you find here :
- The list of all HQ link classed by Month + the winners.
- The rules to record the demo well. I need a good config file (no hud, no text, ultimate, kojn ?)
- The rules to record the video well. I think 1024*768 res and divx or xvid compression is good, NO MORE THAN 1 PASS plz (Final movie will be re-compressed)
- The first Trailer of the FOTY movie. I think I'll do a trailer with only 1 month (which ?).

What I'll do not make :
- Recording the demo. (too much work ...)
- Work on the Video posted if they can't be in movie (res, quality ...)
- The special effects

What I'll make in this project :
- The list of HQ video by month + winners.
- The first movie without effects.
- A trailer for 1 month of frags.

The help I need :
- Post links of HQ FOTM. No more youtube if you want be in the movie.
- Advices and ideas.
- Effect : I'll make the movie with adobe premiere pro cs3 under macos, if someone know adobe aftereffect I can give him the .pproj and all the movie project files (greenmarine ? kojn ?)

i can post a download link for my vids but hud is in them.. i don't have the demos anymore , so can not record it again. should i post them anyway?

Sure, not much problem with that.

Crosshair is deny too, but if you already record with it like mirio, no problem.

Edit : All the HQ link I found is on the first Post.
If your video is not the list, it won't be in the movie. The video don't respect the rules or its some streaming things.
If you want watch you in the movie, upload HQ video.

From now, NOBODY has posted any demo of FOTM.
A lot of posters don't visit forum all the days (month ?).
I don't have much good quality video. I dunno yet if I'll can do a full movie.

If I ask everybody demo and I record it at the good time, the movie never end. Like yours.

For the difference between videos, I explain the rules to have a Standard way of recording.

I think the best quality of all the FOTM is kojn's config. That could be cool if you post your recording .cfg please.
(Can you send me the blur config of aftereffect and other effects plz).

With heavy effect WE can hide somehow the difference of quality.

BUT, if you want record FOTM demo, its ok. Upload HQ vids.

Good movies need their time. How already kojn said, the movie becomes horrible if you do it on your way. And the movie doesn't have to be finished also after the first fotm year, or?

Now I got time because I'm on holliday. If I don't finish it this summer, I'll never finish it.
Ok, it's a half FOTY, but I'll keep vids for the guy who will want do a full year movie.

Anyway, I'll see if it will look horrible. In this case, I'll stop the project.
I really think that the full movie can look good with effects on mid-quality vids. All the Low quality vids will not be in my movie.

Watch all my videos on http://oat.nexuizninjaz.com/videos so that if you see any frags you would like to include on your video, I can provide the demo files for them.

Also my demos files have a time stamp on that WHEN the frag is about to happen. So that'll make your life easier

That's how I keep on top of the demos files to record the frags without time wasting.

edit : I found an interesting effect for Mid-Quality videos, a nice green Night Vision.

1) If you want to do it that way then it will look bad still. Even if people recorded themselves they would need to still encode, encoding and then putting encoded clips toghether like i said before will give very bad compression results.

2) my movie is coming along nicely thank you and im about 1/2 way through the fragging part

3)I can upload my .cfg but i doubt it will help much, for the blur you need to record at 400fps (if you want to do it my way) and then encode in VirtualDub down to 25 fps) put it into premiere and then re-export it with frame-blending enabled. People would have to do that and i believe that not everyone knows how to use Adobe Premiere or even has it.

Another point for the next : try to have no HUDGE crosshair, no HUD and no text.

If someone have a config file to hide them all, I take it.

The one on soylent is for august.

maybe someone can write a config file that:

- disables HUD, Crosshair, Text(Chat), and the Scoreboard

- change the FOV to a standard value for the FOTY/FOTM -Video/s

- and the non plus ultra, is it possible to save the actual (configured) graphics settings?
So if u exec the "fotm.cfg" (or any other name) your graphics settings will be saved (in a new file) and changed to ultra/ultimate, and after capturing the video u can easily change the graphics from ultra/ultimate to your old setting... (me wont change the settins everytime i capture and after it change them manually back..)

The quality may be crappy compared to the frag movie standards. I can't really find good video apps for linux, right now I use virtualdub and xvid via WINE
I know about mencoder, but I got frameskips and weird artifacts last time. Avidemux have wrong colors, but after fixing it with a filter the quality got lower.
And finally, all my demos are choppy. So it looks bad even ingame ;P

I don't know if it also is available for Linux, but you could try SUPER. A neat program.

SUPER is based on ffmpeg, if this helps.
For MacOS, there's a port too, named ffmpegX.

VirtualDub or VirtualDub Mod are perfect for that, but only win.
Mencoder is text based no ?

But encoding is a good subject. I only got Premiere and his "adobe media ecoder" to do that. Dunno how is the CS3 version of that.

If someone know a soft with GUI on OSX to do that (cocoa powa), I'm really interested (I havn't search any soft yet).

ps : It always need FOTM winners by month. I think there is some in streaming or badquality, Then I'll Choose a Movie FOTM Winner. Sorry for all the winner who won't be in the movie. (The name will be appair at the end =) )

Yeap, its a valid one.
But it can be better :
- WTF HUDGE ugly green crosshair ?
- Text + scorboard + fps + speedometer, I don't give a fuck of that.

I think I got all the videos and all the Effects needed.
Tonight I'll upload the Mirio FOTM for august with all the effect I'll add. (No sound because Mirio add music)
Tell me what do you think about it.

To make the movie, I'll add effect to each FOTM with after effect. Then add them to premiere and synchronise them with the music.

I make the title of the begin and the lower third for the players names and month.

should i disable any sounds ? and i did not add music , thats the music of the map..
